You absolutely cannot leave Japan without having authentic tonkatsu, and Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin Honten did not disappoint! Finding a great tonkatsu spot can be a challenge if you have specific dietary needs in your group, but this hidden gem was an absolute lifesaver. My mom doesn't eat pork, so finding a place that offered premium seafood options was a massive win. Their ebi (shrimp) katsu was spectacular—easily the best we've had. I ordered the classic pork cutlet, and it was fried to absolute perfection: incredibly crispy on the outside, while remaining tender and juicy on the inside. The service was excellent, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. After a long day of walking around and exploring, this was the ultimate warm, comforting, and filling meal. If you are in Ginza, do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this spot!
View on GoogleGood food at a reasonable price. Wait times weren’t crazy, about 30 minutes. Food gets cooked to order and it tastes very fresh. You start with a soup which is very delicious. The plate itself, whatever you order, is all fried. The crust is AMAZING. The meat itself needs a little more salt I would say, and probably needs to be more lean and cut the chunks of fat out. It comes with rice and cabbage, and there multiple sauces you can add. They also have variety of drinks including Sake options which are decent. Service is excellent and staff is very friendly
View on GoogleCrispy tonkatsu set with fresh vegetables and miso soup. On our first visit we happened to walk straight in with no queue at about 2:30pm. The service was friendly and meals were prepared quickly. On our second visit we waited slightly longer (probably 30 minutes) but we knew it would be worth it!
View on GoogleQueue can be quite long, and even though I arrived after 3pm, it was absolutely worth the wait. The Kurobuta loin is highly recommended perfectly cooked, tender and full of flavor. You definitely won’t regret trying it.
View on GoogleThe best tonkatsu we have ever had! Waited for half an hour but definitely worth the time! The crispy skin and juicy meat were sooo good! Highly recommend the silver cutlet, normal version is a bit too lean for me 😂
