I was looking for tempura and this shop was exactly what I was looking for. This is a mom and pops shop, run by an elderly couple. I didn't know what to order and had the shiokara ten-don for 1,000 yen (shiokara was served as an appetizer). In hindsight I should have had the rice set which also included tofu and vegetables. The tendon was very satisfying and I just wish I could have ordered a bigger portion.

Drawn in by its old-fashioned tempura shop exterior, I went inside. Ordered tendon No. 4. It was very delicious. And cheap! The tempura was good, but the shirasu oroshi sauce(?) was exquisite. There was something written like "no photographing ◯◯," but I couldn't make it out, so unfortunately, to be safe, I didn't take a photo of the tendon. I take photos of food as a record, so it was a shame. Some people in the reviews have taken photos, so it seems photographing what's served isn't prohibited.

When I went a little after 1 PM, the 780 yen one was sold out—a mysterious system—so I ordered the 930 yen tendon, oshinko and tofu, and anago for 250 yen. A tendon topped with shrimp, squid, green beans, eggplant, and nori tempura. The batter seemed better suited to tendon than to plain tempura. The seasoning, just as it looked, had a bit too much soy sauce and was salty. The hiyayakko used silken tofu, and was at a level where it could have been left out. The oshinko was homemade and tasty, so getting the 780 yen tendon and adding your favorite tempura seems like it would be really satisfying!

Value-wise, the basic tempura set meal at 990 yen is good. But... I already thought it looked small from the sample, so I added green pepper and shiitake. The proprietress said "Green pepper and shiitake!" and her husband nodded too... I was shocked at the amount of rice that came out. Wouldn't even elderly people or women find it not enough? I'd want at least two bowls. But there's nothing on the menu about refills or a large serving. Oh well... I thought, and then the tempura arrived, fine, but shrimp and squid? Nori? Kisu? Shishito? Eggplant? ...No matter how you look at it, there's no shiitake or green pepper. "Um... what about the green pepper and shiitake I added?" Proprietress: "Yes! Extra order, please! Green pepper and shiitake!" Uh-oh... The husband nods again. Come on... Well, it came out while I was eating. Hmm... the miso soup is pretty small too, isn't the portion just way too small? No other complaints. Pretty good tempura. Next time maybe I'll get the tendon with a large serving of rice. Thanks for the meal.
