Very delicious sushi and very great service. We are tourist from Singapore who randomly went out in search of a dinner place when we stumbled upon this standing sushi bar filled with locals. The menus in the tables were all in Japanese but the waiter gave us a special english menu with dishes assigned with numbers, making it very easy to order. Sushi was fresh, delicious and served very quickly. Comes with free green tea or water. Lots to choose from. I’ve uploaded images of the english menu for English speakers. Definitely recommend eating here if you are in the Tokyo Station area.

The sushi chef is very efficient; ordering is quite convenient, using pen and paper to communicate.

Standing Sushi Bar Nemuro Hanamaru – Tokyo Midtown Yaesu Branch When this place first opened, there were lines even on weekdays. Now, on weekdays, it’s easy to get a seat. Only weekends see much of a crowd — clearly, customer traffic has declined. The biggest issue lies in the ordering system: Customers must write down the names of the items on a paper form. At first glance, it may seem simple, but in reality, it’s surprisingly cumbersome. You have to manually write the names of each item you want, which poses a major hurdle, especially for international visitors. You could argue, “They’re not the target audience,” but who would choose such an inconvenient system in the first place? Other standing sushi places, like Misaki in Keio Mall, have already adopted touchscreen ordering. You can sense their willingness to adapt to the times. Even if they insist on keeping the handwritten system, they could at least add numbers or letter codes next to each item — like Din Tai Fung does — to make it easier to fill out. Checkboxes would work too. There are plenty of ways to improve it, but no sign of change. Also, not all handwriting is easy to read. If the writing is too sloppy or abbreviated, staff will need to ask for clarification, which wastes time. Doesn’t anyone see how inefficient this is? If they do notice and still leave it unaddressed, perhaps it’s because no one feels comfortable speaking up. That could be a sign of organizational stagnation — a typical example of “Japanese-style silence,” where outdated customs remain unquestioned. For reference, the Harajuku branch of this same chain has already closed down. Given this location in Tokyo Midtown Yaesu, it’s questionable how long they can keep going like this. —This quiet decline, I believe, is a reflection of the silent crisis facing Japan’s restaurant industry. AMAZING EEL. Both the unagi and conger eel were out of this world - soft and moist with a nice chargrilled flavour that sent my tastebuds out of Tokyo and back. The sashimi was incredibly freshed too, and it was quite the experience seeing them craft them individually in front of you. Great value for money too. Eel was like 380 yen and most went from 180-280 yen. You can ask for an English menu, and order by writing the counter number, item number and quantity in the sheet. Pass it to the sushi chef and they will make it for you. To pay, simply walk over to your right, and pay at the counter. Amazingly fresh and great tasting food.

Recommended for sushi lover! The scallop are always fresh and shrimps are sweet for my visits. Not a long wait on weekdays non-rush hour. But expect 2 hour wait in the weekends.
