Ate at this sushi restaurant for breakfast for 2 days. The chef and staff were very friendly. I asked for halal soy sauce and they provided it. The staff also pointed out sushi choices on the menu that were not Muslim friendly. Thank you very much! A must try sushi spot when you visit Tsukiji Market. I tried a lot of new sushi and it was great! Chef prepares excellent sushi with a wide grin. I felt so happy eating there!

🍣 Sushi Zanmai – Where Freshness Meets Tokyo Energy 🇯🇵 If you’re searching for a sushi experience that’s both approachable and top-quality, Sushi Zanmai is the place to go. This beloved chain has multiple locations around Tokyo, including the famous flagship near Tsukiji Market, and it’s earned its reputation as the “King of Tuna.” I visited the Tsukiji branch, which is open 24 hours a day—because in Tokyo, craving excellent sushi at 3am is perfectly reasonable. 🌊 Atmosphere: The vibe here is lively but unpretentious. You walk in and are greeted by staff calling out “Irasshaimase!” with big smiles. The counter is usually busy with both locals and tourists perched on stools, watching the chefs deftly slice fish and shape rice. There are also tables if you’re in a group, but sitting at the counter gives you the front-row experience. Décor is bright, clean, and simple, with fresh fish displayed proudly behind glass cases. It’s not fancy in a high-end omakase way—it’s a friendly, bustling Tokyo sushi institution. 🍣 The Food: Sushi Zanmai is all about freshness and variety. The menu has everything from affordable nigiri sets to premium cuts you can order à la carte. Highlights: Toro (Fatty Tuna): This is their signature. It melts in your mouth—lush, rich, and unbelievably fresh. You must order at least one piece. Uni (Sea Urchin): Sweet and creamy, with no bitterness at all. The flavor blooms on your tongue. Anago (Sea Eel): Warm, tender, lightly glazed with a delicate sauce. Salmon Roe: Bursting with briny goodness. Tamago (Sweet Omelet): Soft, fluffy, and just sweet enough to balance the seafood. If you’re unsure what to pick, the assorted nigiri platters are fantastic value and showcase a wide range of seasonal fish. 🍶 Drinks: They offer beer, sake, and green tea. A cold Asahi Super Dry goes perfectly with the rich tuna. 💴 Price: While Sushi Zanmai is more expensive than conveyor-belt sushi, it’s still extremely reasonable considering the quality. Expect to spend around ¥3,000–¥6,000 per person if you’re ordering several premium cuts and drinks. 🙌 Service: Friendly and efficient. The chefs are happy to answer questions or make recommendations, even if you don’t speak Japanese fluently. English menus are available. ⭐ Verdict: Sushi Zanmai is an essential Tokyo stop if you love sushi. It strikes a perfect balance—top-grade fish without the intimidating formality of an elite omakase. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi connoisseur or a first-timer, you’ll leave satisfied and plotting your return visit. Don’t miss the chance to try their famous tuna—it’s worth the trip alone.

The absolute BEST sushi that you can eat in Tokyo. The sushi, especially the broiled salmon, was all incredible and fresh. The chefs were smiling and funny and helpful with everything.

Actually I already ate at other branch. Just come here to try wagyu sushi😌. First time find sushi place that halal friendly and serve other than seafood. Don’t mistake the shop. They have several branch here but this is the only branch that has halal wagyu sushi. BONUS!!! I also try their whale sushi and both of it tastes amazing 🤩

Very affordable and delicious conveyer belt sushi. I found it to be better quality than Kura and similarly priced. The staff were also extremely kind and helpful. A nice lady was quick to help me figure out how to make my tea when she noticed I was confused and one of the sushi chefs was very encouraging and attentive when it came to ordering from the menu. We liked this place because every other shop/restaurant nearby is expensive either because it’s very high quality or because it’s touristy. I prefer finding cheap but satisfactory meals.
