Visited restaurant Shima with my family a few weeks ago. Excellent restaurant to have a memorable meal in Tokyo. Everything was perfect from the perfect steaks, flavorful onion soup, buttery wagyu Sando, fruity desert and ice cream and the best service and generosity. We all loved it.
View on GoogleShima is one of the best experiences I’ve had at a restaurant. The staff was extremely kind and friendly. The food was spectacular. We even ended up with complimentary dessert, a complimentary cheesecake to-go, as well as an umbrella because of a heavy storm! Thank you to our waiter and the rest of the staff at Shima!
View on GoogleWAY OVERPRICED. Borderline tourist trap... July 2026. The food is very good but it is far too expensive for what it is. Have been to much better steak places in Tokyo for same very fine dining level prices, or similar level steak for more reasonable prices. Friendly, lovely homely vibe (albeit a bit strange like grandma's house from 1990), delicious, but for over ¥30k per person for steak and wine? I wouldn't come back. The takeaway-only steak sandwich is ¥9600... US$60 😮
View on GoogleWent there for dinner and would definitely recommend making a reservation if you can, it’s a small place and fills up quickly. The menu is quite compact, which actually makes it easier to choose. One thing to note for the appetizers: make sure to specify the quantity. I ordered “one” thinking it meant one portion, but my plate came out with literally one asparagus. The wagyu beef is obviously the star of the show. We went for the filet and it was honestly one of the best pieces of meat I’ve ever had. So tender, perfectly cooked, and beautifully seasoned! Also, the staff are incredibly sweet. After we paid, we were treated to a homemade cheesecake, and the lady even walked us to the exit. Such a warm and thoughtful touch.
View on GoogleOne of the most expensive steak sandwiches I’ve had in my life. USD 70! I don’t regret it but I might not revisit due to the price point. Portion is generous as you can see in the photos. We shared it amongst two people and we didn’t have to grab dinner afterwards. Beef was flavourful and cooked beautifully. Seasoning is on point. The bread can be a little bit more toasted but it’s good enough. This trip was spontaneous so we didn’t make a reservation. But I was told that you only have to try their steak sandwich really, and it’s available for takeaway. The wait was around 10 minutes. Service was superb.
