We came with great enthusiasm. Unfortunately, the gentleman with glasses was so grumpy and unpleasant, it's unbecoming of Japan. He tried to push us from behind. He wasn't polite. He treated us badly

Food was alright but the prices were absurdly high, service shoddy and neglectful, not to mention the entire store seemingly trying too hard to be "trendy". For the prices, it was 3000 yen per person (with a drink) for what was essentially slices of bread you toasted yourself with some measly amount of jam on a plate. We were also made to wait in the heat outside in 28-30 Celsius weather despite there being multiple empty seats inside, which felt like they were making people wait in a line to appear "busier" and trendier for the passerby's. We only got in when the line was big enough that seating us would not disrupt it. When we did finally get seated, it took us a while to get service in the first place. We were also told to go get the toaster for our breads ourselves, while we watched other tables be brought toasters and get explained how to use it. We each ordered a toast, and ended up waiting half an hour for my partners toast. It was especially annoying because the table right besides us, who came in 20 minutes after us, ordered the same plate and got their order within minutes. We had to ask about it and got a simple "oops we forgot". We eventually got it, though it was hard to enjoy it after it all. All in all, unless you want to take pretty pictures of overpriced slices of plain bread, I'd recommend skipping this place.

Visited 2025/12. My first visit was maybe about 5 years ago? I couldn't forget the taste from back then, so I come here now and then. This shop serves bread from Central Bakery. When I arrived at 11:20 there were 5 groups waiting. We were seated around 11:55. There were quite a lot of inbound foreign visitors. For the 2 of us we ordered 2 servings of the 3-type shokupan tasting (butter and jam set), 1 Reuben sandwich, and 2 drinks. About 9000 yen for this is a pretty stinging amount, but the high satisfaction is what makes this shop amazing. I love that the bread tasting lets you pick whichever toaster you like, and this is the place where I, a rice person, first thought, "Wow, bread meant to be eaten untoasted can be this delicious." The 3 kinds of butter were just, well, each a bit different in taste and flavor, but the 6 kinds of jam made sweet-toothed me happy. The apricot and berry jams especially had nice sweetness and tartness. The Reuben sandwich also had a good balance of pastrami beef and sauerkraut, the kind that makes you want a drink ◎. Part of me thinks "For this price I could eat yakiniku," but it was a lovely shop that made me feel this way of spending money—enjoying a slow time with special food—is nice too. I'll definitely come again!!

Next to the takeout-only shop there's also a café restaurant, where you can have the bread tasting set and sandwiches made with this shokupan ✨ There's a row of toasters, and it seems you carry one to your table and toast the bread yourself to your liking ✨ The croque madame is finished piping hot and crispy in the oven, and uses Fromage de Biei made at the cheese workshop of the company's own farm, Biei Grazing Dairy Farm ✨ It's topped with Daisen ham, homemade béchamel sauce, and a fried egg, with pickles on the side. The cheese is rich and delicious ✨ The mushroom omelet sandwich was also very delicious, with fluffy bread and soft egg packed with lots of mushrooms ✨ Because the bread is delicious, it's even more delicious. The crusts are soft and delicious too ✨ The cold potato soup was nicely chilled, a thick, delicious soup where you can enjoy the sweetness and flavor of the potatoes ✨ There were lots of tasty-looking menu items, including shokupan topped with raclette cheese, and I thought I'd like to try that next time ✨ I went on a whim and waited in line a little, but it seems you can make reservations ✨ There were also many foreign visitors ✨
