One of our favorite restaurants in Kachidoki. Their udon is amazing and not too heavy, you won’t feel overly stuffed after eating just perfect. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. I usually order the same Nabeyaki udon. Some times when it gets full you might end up sharing a seat with someone else which is fine. Very local and delicious! 😋
View on GoogleI had a very unpleasant experience, so I will never go again. I cannot recommend it to people bringing children. Since I went with my son, who was not yet 2 years old, I politely checked before entering whether small children were welcome. They welcomed us readily, so I felt reassured, but shortly after entering, my child started playing with the children's fork they had immediately provided. I told him off and took it away, but he cried and screamed. I distracted him, and while this kept repeating, an elderly male staff member (the owner?) silently took it away and went to the kitchen. He then made one snide remark after another with the women running the place nearby, loud enough for us to hear. They seemed to enjoy saying things like, “Parents these days can't properly discipline their children; it's the parents' fault.” Hearing this, we ate feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. It made me think that even in the Reiwa era, these stereotypically obnoxious old people still exist. It was extremely unpleasant. They were very friendly toward people who appeared to be elderly regulars, so I think adults alone would probably have no problem. But in any case, this is a restaurant you should avoid if you have children with you. The food was very delicious, with a lovely dashi flavor. It seems to be a historic restaurant, so I might try going again once the next generation takes over and those staff members are gone. Also, apparently the climate control was broken or something, and it was freezing inside.
View on GoogleA place in Kachidoki that feels like a classic soba shop. The soba has a firm bite and is very delicious! Of course, they also have katsudon and other soba-shop staples. The prices are fairly substantial, but it's a place I recommend.
View on GoogleGood soba with a firm bite. O-mori Soba. It was delicious, so I've visited several times.
View on GoogleA neighborhood soba shop with a Showa-era feel, still going strong. When it comes to soba shops in Kachidoki, it's either here or Yasubei. For a neighborhood soba shop, this one feels right. An aged wooden sign from who knows what era is propped beside the entrance. It must be very old. I ordered zaru soba. The vent always gives off a lovely aroma of soba broth, tempting my soba-loving heart. Reliably good zaru soba. The same old taste.
