Unagi restaurant

An eel restaurant serving eel "jiyaki" style, grilled without steaming, which is rare in Tokyo. You can appreciate the eel's natural umami, its rich fat, and the firm texture of its flesh. In addition to kabayaki and unaju, we also offer sashimi, hot pot, and other eel dishes. Please enjoy a wide range of eel cuisine, from the classics to new flavors waiting to be discovered. The restaurant has private rooms ideal for business entertaining and private dinners, as well as spacious rooms divided by fusuma sliding doors that can accommodate large banquets. Please take your time and enjoy a relaxing moment with those dear to you.

Kansai” style eel, it so crispy you can hear the cracking , but not as oily as the japan east style , it is amazing. tourist friendly with english speak staffs and menu , with your own privacy room with hangers wooden japanese feel , it’s warm and cultural experience. one of the best jewel here in Ginza. **they have their own Sake to go with the eel !!!

We wanted a quick dinner at Ginza and gave this restaurant at a very quiet alleyway a try. It was an odd experience. While the food was decent, the restaurant is an extremely quiet place and you would feel quite alienated at the individual small room although some may like the privacy. Service was inconsistent. The Eel was done very well and we ordered a side of leeks which was delicious. Japanese people could take everyday simple ingredients and truly take it to the next level. I didn’t quite like the ambience here but the food was good and that was good enough for a quick meal.

When you enter the restaurant the man tells you that this is a eel only restaurant. You get escorted to a semi private room with Japanese decor and they bring you a box of live eel for you to inspect and take pictures of to show the freshness. The shio eel you can taste more of the natural flavor of the eel and the sauce eel combined with the rice was really good. There’s a little bit of a light char on the eel and it was tender and flaky. There is seasoning on the table if you want to have different flavors with the eel. The eel liver appetizer tasted like ankimo with a little bit of crunch and the eel bones were deep fried with some seasoning salt sprinkled on top which was a light snack. I tried their cold sake which they make themselves and it was nice and refreshing especially on a hot summer day.

Went for lunch with friends on Sunday afternoon. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. The server was very helpful and took the time to explain various things. He showed us the size comparisons of the menu items. This restaurant specializes in crispy and fatty Kansai style unagi. It was delicious. I ordered hitsumabushi. I really enjoyed it with wasabi and spring onion. We also ordered the crispy eel. It was also delicious. I went for lunch on a weekday. The place was empty. The staff are helpful and quick. The menu is in Japanese and English. I ordered the large premium eel. It was very good. I ate the skin first since it was still crispy. I will definitely return.

We went around 1:30 pm and there was no queue but the staffs said we will need to wait almost 1 hour for the food. We were not in a hurry so we accepted. We were 2 adults and 1 9yo girl who don’t eat much. We were going to order 3 dishes and most restaurants nowadays require 1 dish per person. The waiter told us, we should order only 2 dish and share with our daughter. Honestly I was quite surprised and grateful at the same time. We know she won’t be able to finish a full serving. It’s unagi served in many ways. I got the Premium Medium 2 pcs. Unagi cooked 2 ways over rice box. My wife got the Premium Medium 1.5 pcs. The boxes came hot and smell of charcoal and it was amazing! The unagi tasted premium as it should. The rice was perfect compliment along with the seasonings. The glazed-grilled is my favorite. It was not sweet and it didn’t overpower the eel. The lightly seasoned grilled could use a touch more salt, so the seasoning on the table was a bit help. I’m a big 115kg guy and I could not finished the medium size 2 pcs unagi. My wife shared with our daughter just barely finished theirs. I don’t see how anyone could finished the Finest Premium portion. Maybe if they shared it. Overall it was a good lunch, not cheap but good. My only issue was the sitting on the floor was not for a guy my size. Oh, there’s no WiFi. Still highly recommended.
