Foreigner unfriendly restaurant: food was good if you like salty which I like, you will expect different treatment between local and tourist. I been asked to order a drink when there was no need for local in lunch time.

A wonderful pairing of classic Tokyo Oden from Otako Main Branch with what appears to be a bottle of the Juyondai sake. A truly authentic and luxurious Japanese culinary experience.

Stumbled upon this little joint, which was around the corner from my hotel. I had tried to eat at multiple restaurants along this street, which were all packed with Japanese businessmen after work, but was rejected by 2 places before I found this one. The ambiance is super local. The staff was friendly but did not speak English at all. I ordered the clam miso soup, braised tofu over rice and the yakitori set. The tofu was by far the best dish. Leaving the restaurant I noticed it was prominently displayed everywhere both in articles and in a figurine. It’s not a destination by any means but if you’re nearby and want some tofu comfort, it was really humble and delicious.

We really wanted to try oden in Japan, and this place was a great place to satisfy that craving. They have English menus with pictures, so it was still relatively easy to point to what we wanted to order. You have to order at least 1 drink per person with the oden, but that's not a big deal in the end. All the items were so flavorful that the drinks end up helping. My only negative would be the narrow stairs up the multiple levels.

Nihonbashi Otako Main Branch is a must-visit restaurant for those looking for an authentic and delicious dining experience. The restaurant has a rich history, having served customers for over a century, and is a popular spot in the neighborhood. While the restaurant offers a range of dishes including sashimi and skewers, their oden is the star of the show. I ordered the one person omakesa set which came with 4 oden items, handpicked by the chef. The taste of the oden was incredible - the broth had a rich umami flavor that perfectly complemented the ingredients, and each bite was incredibly satisfying. In addition to the oden, I also tried their signature tofu over rice which was a real highlight. The tofu was expertly cooked and melted in the mouth, and the sauce perfectly complemented the rice. It was a true delight for the taste buds. I also ordered the 5 skewer set, and while they were a bit salty for my liking, they were still incredibly tasty and well-cooked. Overall, Nihonbashi Otako Main Branch is a top-notch restaurant with fantastic food and a rich history. If you're looking for a unique and delicious dining experience, this restaurant is not to be missed.
