View on GoogleMy first visit to “Shimamura,” a long-established kappo restaurant tucked away in Nihonbashi's office district. I went for a weekday lunch (around 12:30), there were about 2 people waiting, and I got in after about 5 minutes. After ordering, the food came in about 4 minutes, nice and smooth. Shimamura is a long-established restaurant founded in the late Edo period, and its calm Japanese atmosphere is part of its charm. The interior is quiet and refined, a space that seems great for business lunches and entertaining clients. 【Order】 ・Bite-sized fried young chicken, plate (1,200 yen) *Cash and Suica payment OK That day, the popular daily lunch special was sold out, so I ordered the bite-sized fried young chicken. The set meal that arrived was a simple lineup with rice, clear soup, and pickles. The star of the show, the bite-sized fried young chicken, looks plain, but one bite reveals a surprisingly tender finish. The batter is light and doesn't feel oily, so even though it's fried, it isn't heavy. You can fully enjoy the flavor of the chicken on its own, but it's also nice that pairing it with the accompanying sauce or mayonnaise lets you enjoy a different flavor. It also comes with plenty of cabbage, a well-balanced set meal overall, a dish that shows careful workmanship. I think it's a way to casually enjoy lunch at a long-established kappo restaurant. Also, as of June 25, 2026, the current location is apparently scheduled to close temporarily for relocation. In September, a new location is scheduled to open along the same Naka-dori street, and I'm looking forward to seeing how this restaurant with its long history will be reborn. I'm glad I got to visit before the move. Thank you for the meal♪
View on GoogleI saw it mentioned in a book I happened to read. While I was curious about it, I ended up having to come to Nihonbashi for work. I really wanted to try it, so I visited at lunchtime. I had the “Nishiki Donburi”😊 The toppings are finely cut, easy to eat, and beautifully colorful. The flavor is nicely balanced too, no soy sauce needed. At lunchtime, maybe thanks to the brisk, well-organized staff member, the food was served the moment I sat down. Thank you!!
View on GoogleA kappo restaurant where you can relax in a private room. You can feel the careful work in every dish; the dashi in each one is refined, and the flavors of the ingredients really shine. The simmered sea bream was cooked perfectly, plump and tender. The clear soup in the bowl was also richly aromatic, with a gentle flavor that brings comfort with every sip. The beautiful presentation and choice of tableware show great taste too, a dining experience to enjoy with all five senses. The staff's service is calm and pleasant, and you can enjoy your meal at ease in a quiet space. It's a bit pricey, but perfect for anyone who wants to spend a relaxed, luxurious time.
