Kappo Masa
", located in Ginza, Tokyo, has a homey atmosphere that doesn't make kappo feel intimidating. Even newcomers to Japanese cuisine can drop by casually, and it's a place you can use for business entertaining, parties, or a special birthday dinner. The interior is done in monotone, with a beautiful counter made of ginkgo wood creating a calm atmosphere. Private rooms are also available. We are a Japanese restaurant offering an authentic Japanese dining experience in the "kuzushi kappo" style, which goes beyond the bounds of traditional Japanese cuisine. Our kappo dishes use seasonal ingredients from each of the four seasons and are created with free-thinking ideas unbound by conventional notions. We went to this newly open Kappo place in Ginza because we were at the Sushi place from the same chef and were so impressed with everything, and we had a great time. The staffs and the chefs were all so friendly and accommodative, which made the overall experience even better. The food was delicious, especially the pasta which was cooked with Raclette cheese and topped with uni and mentaiko sauce, the beef burger and the wagyu beef which was our favourite. The price was reasonable considering the ingredient they use and that its right in the middle of Ginza. Highly recommend for a nice Kappo meal. We would definitely go back.
View on GoogleHad a great dinner here. There are only 6 counter seats, and a private room that can fit another 6. Chef and staffs were super friendly. They told us that menu change every month except their 2 signature dishes that stay which is the “uni-bonara” and the fish burger. The unagi with sticky rice was so good too. Definitely coming back again.
View on GoogleAbout 3–4 minutes' walk from Shimbashi Station, a somewhat unusual kappo restaurant located underground in an area that feels more like Ginza than Shimbashi. Being on the second basement floor gives it a hideaway feel, and since it only opened in July 2024, it's very clean with a calm atmosphere. This time I bought a course with all-you-can-drink on the crowdfunding site Makuake and visited. Now, the biggest feature of this restaurant is that it serves a rarely heard-of cuisine called "kuzushi kappo", produced by Masakazu Ishibashi, who has earned a Michelin star. The dishes, born from ideas unthinkable in conventional kappo such as hamburgers and pasta, offer new flavors that overturn the very concept of kappo, and feel very fresh. And it's not just novelty—the taste is outstanding, and it's also great that the classic Japanese dishes are properly delicious. The abundant selection of sake, including rare varieties, is also very appealing to drinkers. With private rooms as well as the counter, it was a very good restaurant where you can enjoy superb food in a relaxed setting.
View on GoogleKappo cuisine in the early hours, a bar late at night—I've been to both, and everything I eat is just delicious! The kappo cuisine lets you enjoy a little of many carefully prepared dishes using seasonal ingredients, paired with matching drinks, so satisfying! During bar hours there are 7 kinds of ochazuke, all with gentle flavors, perfect to finish off after drinking! So comforting ♡ The takowasa is especially recommended. There's a counter and a private room with karaoke, so you can use it to suit the occasion, which is really helpful🎵
