Miura Jiro Gallery I visited for an exhibition featuring an artist I like. The exhibition was really appealing, and it's a gentle, calm space where you can enjoy the works at your leisure. Different exhibitions are held on other floors too, and running into unexpected works is part of the appeal. Some floors are compact, so to view at a relaxed pace, I felt it helps to keep your clothes and belongings streamlined — it's more considerate of other visitors and makes things easier. Prices vary by artist, but the works I saw ranged from under 200,000 yen down to the 10,000-yen range, so they felt relatively easy to take home. Merchandise also ranges from about 10,000 yen down to around 500 yen, so there are items you can buy casually. In addition to regular sales, works are also sold by lottery, with the option to apply by hand on site while looking at the list, or by email through the online site. I thought it was a welcome system, since if you can't decide on the spot you can reconsider buying after you get home. Both merchandise and works are cash only, and no receipts are issued. On the other hand, maybe because it was crowded that day, handling of merchandise and work purchases for popular artists seemed pretty chaotic, and there were moments that made me feel uneasy. I think cases like this are very rare, but I hope we as customers can keep a cooperative attitude. You can get a thin plastic bag to carry things home, but it's best to prepare in advance, like bringing your own bag, so you're not relying entirely on their packaging. It's within walking distance of JR Kanda Station, so it's relatively easy to get to. Overall, it's a lovely gallery I'd recommend, where you can enjoy appealing exhibitions and chance encounters. The man who seemed to be the owner was also kind, and if there's an exhibition by an artist I'm interested in, I'd love to visit again.

June 16 さかの依 solo exhibition “The Hers Within” Touched by the parting and birth of lives close to me, suddenly, "the us of some other time" who were within me began to show their faces vividly We, who lived taking a small world as right, resenting those wretched days, pitying them, feeling cleansed, wanting somehow to accept them, I painted <Excerpt from the statement> My first visit to a solo exhibition by Sakano-sensei. I only came to know of the artist last year, so this was my first time seeing the works in person. Female figures that are precarious yet have a firm core — every piece was wonderful! The first one, “Playing Innocent,” was especially good!! At Kodenmacho Miura Jiro Gallery until Sunday, June 28, 2026 *Gallery closed Mondays and Tuesdays

I think it's a gallery that's like a secret hideout, and it feels warm once you step inside.

The location feels a bit low-key, but I get the impression they put on edgy exhibitions.
