Ordered a couple beers while the bar was basically empty. Bartender was nice but when we got the bill we were surprised because we got charged almost 1000 yen for table service that we weren’t warned about before being served. Felt like we were being taken advantage of as tourists. Edit: while yes table charge does happen this was only the second place in our 15 day trip around Japan that had it. The other place let us know ahead of time, was really busy, and gave us appetizers for it. It doesn’t feel right to basically double a bill at an empty bar without telling someone ahead of time.
View on GoogleLaidback bar with reasonably priced mid shelf whiskey (¥500-1000) and ¥3000 for premium whiskey neat. Pickles were house made and delicious. Best of all, lovely conversation if you speak Japanese, and a bookshelf of Japanese cocktail recipes if you don’t. A simple but memorable drink.
View on GoogleCame for lunch. Went in right at the 11:30 opening. ※Lunchtime payment is cash only. 【Hamburg steak topped with a fried egg】 The homemade BBQ sauce made the rice go down easily. The dressing on the salad is apparently original too, and both my companion and I got hooked on it. It made the crisp veggies taste even better. 【Nostalgic custard pudding🍮】 Though mini-sized, a petit dessert with real substance, a small bit of happiness😊 Along with the iced tea from the set drink, we enjoyed an elegant after-meal moment.
View on Google\\ A casual neighborhood BAR in Yaesu // An area packed with easygoing BARs like HUB and celi, and cheap, casual izakaya. A cool-looking BAR across from Cocktail Works. Inside, the counter is a nice proper BAR, and right behind it are tables with groups having a lively time! There's a 2nd floor too! A room like a club room, totally buzzing! The food menu is extensive, so it seems you could use it like a dining bar too ◡̈⃝♡ Looking at Tabelog, they even have banquet courses with food included! (And so cheap…!) I just dropped in to use it as a BAR, but the menu is solid and the pricing is clear ◎ ○ What we ordered ○ ⚪︎ Hoegaarden Adam&eve ¥1200✖️2 ⚪︎ Apple short cocktail ¥1400✖️2 ⚪︎ Apple long cocktail Homemade apple brandy (wait, or was it whisky, sweat) The older bartender was shaking away like crazy, so fun♪ The regulars were fun too! Very Yaesu! The vibe might be closer to Ueno than Shinbashi. lol No need to get all tense thinking "it's a BAR…"! lol Looks like they do lunch too! Looks tasty! The address is Nihonbashi! Right near Nihonbashi Takashimaya ☝︎ 2 people, 5 drinks, one snack, all in, it came to about ¥9500.
View on GoogleI didn't have any food or drinks, so this isn't a rating of those. I think they were on edge because it was crowded, but when I tried to go in as someone joining my group later, I was just told "no" in a harsh tone. Truly disappointing treatment, not even worth rating as a restaurant. I won't be going again, but I hope they try to treat people in a way that isn't an embarrassment at the gateway to Tokyo
