Good Experience of having variety of Oita dishes! Staff is nice and course menu is good, kabosu highball and kabosu Sawa is really nice to drink. Reserve your seats before visiting.
View on GoogleOmi, an Oita local cuisine restaurant in Ginza. The nearest stations are Ginza-itchome, Takaracho, or Shintomicho, but it's not far from Kyobashi Station either. It's a little off Showa-dori and inconspicuous, but it was a place I'd been curious about for a while. Inside, there are table seats at the front, then a counter, and more table seats in the back, so you can enjoy it alone or as a pair, and it can also handle group drinking parties. This day I went at dinnertime. I had the 6,500 yen course (tax included). 1. Appetizer 2. Sashimi featuring fresh fish from Saganoseki 3. Seiro-steamed organic vegetables and pork belly 4. Two kinds of Bungo tempura (satsuma-age) 5. Bungo toriten 6. Oita specialty ryukyu 7. Omi's signature dish 8. Monthly rotating meal (choose from two types) 9. Oita sweets What's distinctive is the soy sauce that can be used for both sashimi and other dishes. Just dabbing a little on a dish changes the flavor quite a bit. By the way, the Bungo toriten is incredibly delicious, so if you're not getting the course, definitely try ordering it à la carte. I've found a great place.
View on GoogleSince dinner is course-only, I was looking forward to seeing what kind of food would come out, but it was just ordinary food with no Oita character at all. Maybe the staff have no knowledge of the food either, since they just put the plates down without a single word of explanation. Then again, with food like this, they'd probably be stuck if asked to explain... The drinks lineup was Oita-like, but... Still, it was lacking. I figured there probably isn't anyone from Kyushu at this restaurant. For people from Kyushu who love Oita, it's the kind of food that makes you go, what is this? I think they should rethink the menu composition a bit more. This time it was a 5000 yen course, but the content was more like 3000 yen.
View on GoogleLove toriten! Visited after a while because I wanted toriten Did they narrow down the menu a bit? Gomadashi Caesar salad Bungo toriten (thigh) Assorted Oita delicacies Mirin-dried horse mackerel Burdock chips Grilled rice ball with jako and gomadashi Yaseuma For toriten, I recommend the thigh‼︎ And to finish, it's gotta be yaseuma♪😄 ------------ 2020 1/20 Visited for lunch Toriten set meal 1,080 yen Wish they'd put a bit more effort into the side dishes
View on GoogleVisited with someone who has ties to Oita. We got to eat a variety of local dishes. The food was delicious and the course had plenty of volume. We also enjoyed a variety of drinks. I was surprised to learn SHIPS is involved.
