I had a wonderful experience at Ginza Iwa. The chef is not only highly skilled and Michelin-starred, but also exceptionally humble and welcoming. The rice stood out as particularly delicious, perfectly complementing each piece. I was especially impressed that the chef remembered my favorite fish and thoughtfully included it in my course. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff made me feel completely at ease throughout the meal. I will definitely be returning soon
View on GoogleThe experience at this Omakase was extremely disappointing and not worth the price at all. The restaurant was noisy and chaotic, with other guests talking and laughing loudly throughout the meal, but the staff did nothing to maintain a quiet dining atmosphere. What’s worse, there were tiny fish bones left in the sashimi that were not properly cleaned, which almost got stuck in my throat. The service was also very inconsiderate: the serving pace was messy, the staff barely introduced any dishes, and I had to ask repeatedly for water or plate changes. The overall service was cold and unprofessional. With poor food preparation, a noisy environment, and terrible service, I cannot recommend this place.
View on GoogleAbsolutely delicious. This was the last meal my husband and I had in Japan before departing back to the US and we were very impressed. Everything was made with the most meticulously care. The fish was of the highest quality and the service was wonderful. Suzuki did a fabulous job - we asked a lot of questions and he was more than happy to teach us all about the fish and his preparation techniques. This was a 10/10. Thank you for a great experience Suzuki and staff!
View on GoogleThe fish were super fresh, most were tasty, but I didn’t enjoy the experience and woukd not recommend this pricey Omakase. I got to the restaurant 5 minutes before it opened. When I entered, a group of 8 people was halfway through their meal. I sat at the bar's edge next to a wall and felt like an outsider. The chef did not explain the meal, its order, or why certain dishes were chosen. I had to look at a booklet they provided to read about the food myself. When my service was finished, the chef prepared more dishes for the other diners, and I was told it was not for me,just for the other diners. The meal ended with no dessert or anything special to tie up the experience. The result was that an experience that was supposed to feel communal felt very isolated and boring. I was also annoyed that I had to pay double the price. To be fair, I made reservations for two people, and my companion could not join, but the restaurant was completely full anyway, so they didn’t lose money from that cancellation. I was also not offered extra food for the additional $200 I paid as a fine. It feels cheap and greedy. As to the food, I enjoyed the sushi pieces (nigiri) but not the plain fish or shellfish dishes. I regret paying so much money without being able to choose what I’m being served, but I guess that’s what Omakase is.
View on GoogleA great dining experience with an amazing and fun chef who speaks English and delivers an excellent Omakase. The fish is exceptionally fresh and expertly prepares. Lunch is cheaper than Dinner like most higher end sushi places in Japan. Lunch was all tourists but all thoroughly enjoyed their meal and experience.
