I was surprised there's such a lovely space on an upper floor of a building in Ginza. It had been a while since I went to a gallery; I used to often go to friends' group shows and solo exhibitions, but lately I haven't had those chances, and even those group and solo shows were always on street-level first floors, so — whoa! Finding such a lovely space in a spot like this upstairs in a building was a new discovery and a happy encounter. Yesterday (Friday, May 23, 2025), at a Sony Store Ginza event, this was one of the 4 galleries I visited during the GINZA gallery night "Ginza Gallery Tour." The works displayed here were by KAIBA GlassWorks glass artist Koji Murayama. Under the theme "Melting the Earth," he develops Grological Glass made from natural sand. As the description says, Sahara Glass: when the vast red sand of the Sahara Desert was melted just as it is, it became a pale green glass reminiscent of young grass, as if reflecting the memory of the desert once covered in green. Mysterious♡ Red sand turning green... The distant memory of the Sahara Desert revived here, right before our eyes. Gassan Glass is also very mysterious. Such a beautiful blue♡, yet this too comes from the foot of Mt. Gassan, the sacred mountain in central Yamagata — I was amazed that melted sand becomes such a lovely glass color. Just like the description, "a refreshing blue reminiscent of Yamagata's clear air," it's a refreshing color that cleanses the heart. Among the works on display, I especially loved the Sahara Glass and the Gassan Glass♡

I visited Gallery Ueda today. I previously bought a print here. I sent it as a gift to my mother, and they suggested adding a letter, so I was able to give my mother a surprise present, and she was very happy. Even when sending a painting, they thought not only about the sender but also about the recipient. The owner always carefully explains each work and artist one by one. I had the impression that galleries were intimidating, but even an ordinary person like me found it easy to walk in. Thank you again today.

I visited for the first time because I wanted to see Shu Yamamoto's solo exhibition. The curator explained a lot to me, and I got to enjoy lots of works!
