So if you are looking for a local spot this is where to go. I was jetlagged and woke up walking around my hotel area and saw in the window fresh soba being rolled out and cut. This has to be good right?! So walked in and saw that this was a small 2 table restaurant that can maybe fit 6-7 people. All locals getting breakfast before work. I ordered the shelled noodles (you can get the rough unshelled noodles too) either hot or cold. I ordered the cold and my husband the hot with beef and onsen eggs and rice. Both were delicious! Real soba real taste and honestly a bargain.!!! My husband went back the next day for seconds.
View on GoogleWe got wholewheat soba - kamo nanban (鴨南蛮蕎麦), the broth tasted so good with an aromatic soba. My husband didn’t leave one drop in the bowl. We will come back again. They have two option of noodle, wholewheat juu wari soba noodle 10割蕎麦 and blend soba (buckwheat+ 20~30% wheat flour). In my opinion, soba is the most quintessentially “Japanese” noodle, even more so than udon or ramen, given its long history and cultural significance, it says soba noodle has been around since Nara (8th century). they don’t have English menu. It might be a bit confusing if you don’t read Japanese and are not used to how to order in a soba place.
View on GoogleGet your translation app ready because what awaits you is one of the best sobas you’ll ever have. Owner was patient and accommodating as I fumbled through the menus with my phone. The duck soup soba was outstanding, so were the extra tempura sides that I ordered. I will have dreams of these handmade chewy noodles 😍
View on GoogleI was interested to try after seeing great reviews and also the soba is handmade. Went early in the morning and ordered soba with sliced pork dipping thick soup/sauce (the lady that was serving told me it is called niku). The soba texture is on the hard side like al-dente in Italian pasta which was interesting for me because I haven’t had ones with such texture. The soba and dipping sauce combo tasted good. The only drawback is the price which is on the expensive side 1250 yen versus other breakfast options.
View on GoogleWow! It’s a really great buckwheat noodle restaurant with a cozy vibe friendly service. This authentic Japanese soba restaurant serves soba of 100% buckwheat or 80% buckwheat with 20% wheat what they call ‘Alabiki’ aka coarse-grinded grain with nice classical garnish such as tofu, green onion and wasabi. It's so fantastic Japanese cuisine which I recommend! 👍
