Standing bistro "Fujiya Honten Nihonbashi Hamacho". The contrast between the smoky blue walls and the counter with a warm atmosphere of wood warmth, the interior of the shop that is somewhat retro, somewhat Nordic is very calm, and the high ceiling is a very comfortable space. We checked into our hotel late today and were arguing over where to eat, because we’ve been traveling for 5 hours across Japan. We settled upon an izakaya and searched for a few minutes before deciding on one nearby. We were sat on the 2nd floor; It was 4 sets of couples and 1 group of 4. We were placed at the bar top corner. Honestly so lucky on our part because they were the best seats in the house. There was a chef making small bites and desserts and watching his craft was really entertaining in addition to the food. BUT THE FOOD! My Gosh. It was on par with Michelin starred restaurants I’ve dined at. It was absolutely divine. So creative and well executed. Diverse flavors. Beautiful plating. Timed perfectly. They charged us 400 yen each as a seating charge, so just be aware of that. I wish them well in their endeavors and hope to dine here in the future. Small-ish to medium dishes. We ordered 8-10 dishes. 5 drinks for 2 of us. 17,000 yen total. Those are the boring facts. Eat here. Be kind. Tell those you love about it and not the ones you don’t.
View on GoogleMy faith in humanity has been restored after I had the roast duck breast with a perfectly paired red wine. My god how they nailed each dish... And paired them all with wonderful natural wines. Everything from the raw fish carpaccio to the squid croquette to the fried fish balls and oh the most amazing melt in your mouth tripe were made with love right in front of us in this amazing place with amazing people who obviously care about each other and the world they serve. Thanks very much team! PS... If you want to watch kitchen stadium downstairs it's standing room only. If you prefer a quiet hideaway where you can sit and canoodle with your lover, that's upstairs... Don't get them confused. They are amazing!
View on GoogleIf you're reading this then you probably need to know there is no English menu. The food is quite carefully prepared with some interesting options and pairings. A tiny liver pate in a mini ice cream cone, and avocado shrimp and egg yolk in an eggshell. Not all to my Western palate, though my Japanese friends loved it. Still some very nice wine helped.
View on GoogleVery interesting place in terms of food. All items are superb, the quality is amazing, and the fusion between Japanese and western is great. Apart from the food, the selection of accompanying wines is also great. Price wise it’s slightly on the expensive side, and the first floor is only standing.
View on GoogleThe food was so so good. Delicious, creative and using the freshest ingredients The wine pairing they recommended matched perfectly. I enjoyed sitting by the bar to see the cooks in action
