Loved this museum. It had an English audio guide and a binder with English translations of the exhibits available. You aren’t supposed to take photos in the exhibition area but they have stamping areas you can do.
View on GoogleThis was a pretty cool free museum. Free lockers to store small belongings as well. History of money in Japan. Loads of stamps and interactive displays
View on GoogleEntertaining museum on a single floor. Free to enter. There are coin-lockers for bags, working with a ¥100 coin that you get back. Only a few sections have English description, it’s mostly in Japanese. However, take your headphones as there’s an audio guide available on mobile phones. The public WiFi in the building only supports the audio guide and it gives us English-only speakers an idea about the exhibit. At the entrance, you can lift up ¥100million! There’s a little souvenir shop, too.
View on GoogleThis museum is very informative and clearly designed with a strong sense of what it wants to convey. The exhibition areas are organized by different eras in Japanese history, which makes it easy to follow the historical development. The suggested walking direction is also clearly indicated, so visitors can easily understand where they are in the timeline and where to proceed next. We first explored the exhibition areas and then watched the summary video in the hallway outside the exhibition area (available in English), which provided a helpful overview of what we had just seen. Compared with the Bank of Canada Museum in Ottawa, this museum feels more thoughtfully designed and better maintained. The exhibition spaces—and even the washrooms—are very clean. The security check and registration process at the entrance are also handled efficiently. Admission is free, yet we learned a great deal from the visit. Please note that photography is not allowed inside the exhibition areas.
View on GoogleGreat place to get to know about the long history and ancient currency which was popular and used. There are so many rare documents that you can't get the chance to look in other institutions. Also, there are many upcoming event posters for people to explore. I also recommend take a look at the museum shop. Many interesting goods there. Be a little sad that they don't allow to take photos
