I just visited the latest exhibition on Day 1, **"The Creative Origins of Mamoru Hosoda"** (running from June 20 to August 31, 2026), at **CREATIVE MUSEUM TOKYO**, and it is an absolute triumph. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of *The Girl Who Leapt Through Time*, this exhibit offers an incredibly rare, deep dive into the visionary mind of one of animation's true modern masters. The sheer volume of curation is spectacular. Walking through the galleries and seeing the highly detailed storyboards, intricate layout designs, and stunning original drawings up close gives you an immense appreciation for the painstaking craftsmanship that goes into his films. The museum beautifully maps out his creative journey and world-building process, making it feel like an intimate walkthrough of his imagination. The exhibition space itself on the 6th floor of the Toda Building in Kyobashi is modern, beautifully paced, and exceptionally well-lit, allowing you to catch every fine line of the hand-drawn elements. Whether you are a lifelong fan of Hosoda’s works or simply an admirer of high-level creative production, this is a world-class exhibition that you cannot miss if you are in Tokyo this summer. **Pro-Tip:** Definitely check out the museum gift shop afterward for the exclusive, high-quality exhibition merchandise - if you have time to queue for it as it might take up to 1.5 hours (which l personally didn’t).
View on GoogleWe visited the Tokyo Creative Museum’s Mamoru Hosoda Studio Chizu exhibit and it was amazing. Cafe was Studio Chizu themed and had good themed foods. Exhibit and cafe lasts from 6/20/26 - 8/31/26.
View on GoogleThe special exhibition by Hajime Sorayama is an absolute must-visit for contemporary art fans. It does a fantastic job showcasing his iconic Sexy Robot series and highlights his pioneering ability to fuse human sensuality with mechanical precision. The curation is extensive, covering a wide range of his striking pieces. A huge plus was that the museum layout didn't feel overly crowded, allowing you to actually stand back, take photos, and appreciate the highly detailed metallic textures and artwork at your own pace.
View on GoogleWent for the Capcom exhibition, arrived at around 4pm and didn't need to line up. Loved it! It shows that Capcom is really proud of their heritage like Megaman and the Famicom. Highly recommend it but think it's only on for another week.
View on GoogleSuperb museum - recently visited for the Capcom expo. Hugely entertaining& great to revisit gaming memories. Lots of original artwork, exhibits etc so much so went back for a second viewing with a Japanese friend who worked in the industry in the 90s. Appreciate the expo is no longer there but the museum itself worth a visit - just check what is on.
