▲ Closed Saturdays and Sundays △ Located in a hidden alley ▲ The dine-in area is rather narrow and small △ Online reservations available ▲ Station (Shin-Nihombashi Station △ Counter and regular table seating available ▲ Closes for a break in the afternoon △ Limited seating, reservations recommended ▲ Some special grilled skewers are available in limited quantities △ Restroom available ▲ The specialty is chicken curry rice △ The owner is friendly and polite ▲ Simple menu selection I was looking for somewhere to eat while out that day. I originally had a place in mind, but for some reason its website wouldn't load, so I thought I'd go and check in person. When I arrived, it was already full... I had to look somewhere else to eat. After a quick search, I saw this grilled skewer + curry (?) place nearby. Since I hadn't booked, I thought I'd just go in and ask whether they had a seat. Maybe because it was a weekday evening, there weren't many customers, and I was lucky enough to get in. However, the location and layout are rather cramped. Personally, I'd recommend reserving if you want to eat here, as it feels like it would fill up immediately once customers arrive. I ordered some grilled skewers and a salad to try. The salad arrived shortly afterward, and to my surprise it was hot mashed potatoes?! I thought it was quite good and had already been seasoned. Then the skewers arrived. They were quite tasty and of a good standard. But the chicken and scallion skewer... the scallions were completely burnt, almost entirely black on the outside, and were served without being trimmed or cut away. This really lost a lot of points. I think serving something completely black to a customer is quite rude, so I ate the meat and left the scallions.. I then decided to try their signature curry rice, which was chicken curry. The curry itself tasted pretty good, and I thought it was fine, but the rice was too soft, too wet, too mushy... Generally, I think curry should be paired with slightly drier rice with distinct grains. Also, the beer was a bit pricey and seemed to have a slightly bitter, astringent taste.. I hope the owner cleans the beer dispenser properly... After one beer, I switched to another mixed drink and ordered a tomato sour, which I thought was quite good. Overall, the food was reasonably okay, not terrible. 5 grilled skewers + curry rice + salad + two alcoholic drinks came to nearly 1 thousand Taiwan dollars. I thought that price was acceptable, and the owner was friendly and polite. It's just a shame there's no Chinese menu, and the dining space isn't particularly comfortable. Still, for a meal without staying long, I thought it was okay. Quite a few regulars seem to come here, so perhaps it's popular with the locals. I think people who like grilled skewers could give it a try. The skewers are of a good standard, but it would be better to avoid the chicken and scallion skewer. Also, there aren't many menu items, which might make ordering easy for people who struggle to choose. If you're passing through the area, I'd recommend giving it a try.

I often go to the Kobunacho branch, but this was my first time here. Looking more closely, this one might actually be closer to work… The curry prices are the same, and it looks almost identical. So I wondered whether the curry sauce came from a central kitchen, but its flavor was subtly different from the Kobunacho branch. This one is a little thinner, with more pronounced sweetness and spices and a more distinct flavor. Cumin seeds stand out at the Kobunacho branch, whereas you hardly see them here. Perhaps even with the same recipe, the preparation differs between locations. If asked which is better, all I can say is that it depends on your taste. Personally, I find it hard to choose; both are delicious, haha. If I had to pick out a difference, the rice here is fluffy but on the firmer side, and seems cooked just right for this curry. The Kobunacho branch might have slightly more chicken…? Both serve soup in a small cup, but at Kobunacho it arrives almost hot enough to burn you (not that that's bad). Here it's at a temperature you can drink straight away, and it arrives as soon as you sit down. The curry is served quickly too. Another difference is that this place has chili pepper and shichimi on the table (probably intended for the yakitori), so being able to add heat earns extra points. While the Kobunacho branch has two people working, this one is smaller with fewer seats, and the owner runs it alone. My wish (and this applies to Kobunacho too) would be for the tomato salad side dish to become a green salad. There's already plenty of tomato in the curry sauce, so I'd be happier to get other vegetables for nutritional balance. I understand that increasing the variety of ingredients isn't easy, but I'd appreciate them considering it if possible.
