I should have read the reviews first. At first glance, it didn't look particularly clean. Looking at the lunch menu photos, there were lots of choices, and I wondered whether I could finish that much food. After wandering around and checking out the Japanese restaurant next door too, I thought, well, why not? When I went in, the old woman said, “Are you sure our place is okay? We're only open until 13:30!” (It was 13:00 then.) I stood there looking puzzled because I didn't understand what she meant, and she said, “You seemed to spend ages deciding! Wouldn't another place be better for you!?” Then she went back to the kitchen after throwing that at me. She might have thought I'd slink away, but I immediately told her, “Is that any way to treat a customer?!” She snapped back, “Because you seemed so undecided!!” So I said, “Am I not allowed to be undecided? I came in because I wanted to eat here, you know?!” I said it loudly enough to be heard in the kitchen. Then she gave a mocking reply: “Ahh, yeah, yeah.” I got in a parting shot: “You're very strange!!” What is she sulking about? I think she has the least suitable personality for the restaurant business. Actually, any customer service job would be impossible for her. It's probably a good thing I didn't have to eat food made by someone like this. Thanks for turning me away yourself.

While we were out walking, my beloved dog stopped a little way in front of the restaurant. After we'd been there for about 10 seconds, an older woman (an employee) came out and told me not to bring the dog near, looking at it as though it were filth. My dog wasn't relieving itself in front of the restaurant or blocking anyone's way in or out, so I don't understand why she had to say something like that. I wouldn't want to visit a restaurant where someone like that works. I tried to call, but no number was listed, so I'm writing here. I've read other people's reviews too. Please go out of business soon.

My boss brought me here for lunch during work. The atmosphere was calm, like a coffee shop, but the proprietress running the place was quite spirited, which threw me off a little (haha). Looking closely, it was written on the wall, but perhaps the system of paying upfront with a 20-yen discount for cash also contributed to my confusion? (Well, I wasn't the one paying anyway.) The food itself might not satisfy people looking for big portions, but the flavor and balance were good. Overall, I thought the prices were reasonable too (judging by the menu, lower than the Tokyo prices this middle-aged guy from out of town, who rarely comes to Tokyo, had expected). The notices on the walls (use mobile phones outside, etc.) might feel a little intimidating to customers, but considering that the proprietress runs the place alone, I can understand it. The efficiency (?) seemed good too (I felt a sense of reassurance that there weren't any troublesome customers). Also, the after-meal coffee arrived at just the right moment without us having to ask. Things like that made me feel the service was thoughtful and attentive—sort of like a caring, big-hearted, no-nonsense mother.

When I entered, the female employee ignored me even though there were no other customers. Even when I asked, “Are you open?” and “Where should I sit?”, she said nothing and just pointed to a seat with her chin. I already felt something was off at that point. After coming in, I ordered a beer and gyoza to start with. She said, “If that's all you're ordering, I'd like you to leave.” I told her, “I think it's wrong for someone in the restaurant business to say something like that to a customer.” She replied, “I wouldn't know, because I've never let a customer like you into this place,” and kicked me out. I'm shocked that a restaurant with so little common sense exists in a lovely neighborhood like Tsukishima. I hope it goes out of business soon.

I've been living in Kachidoki and Tsukishima for about 27 years. I've never used this restaurant, but I'm going to leave a review anyway. A sudden downpour! There was no roof, but I thought I might get a little shelter from the rain, so I moved to the edge of the building. Perfect timing? A woman, who I think is the one described in reviews as a big-hearted, no-nonsense downtown mother, hurled something like “You're in the way of my cleaning!” at me. I had no choice but to leave, but immediately afterward she hurried back inside the restaurant… I headed home soaking wet, looking for eaves to shelter under! Having lived here so long, I think I know the good things about these old downtown neighborhoods, but I felt this woman only cares about her restaurant's customers. Every week I travel for work, from Hokkaido to Kyushu and Okinawa, and I've been looked after by all kinds of restaurants. But this is the first time I've felt this way! I thought it might be rude, especially since I've never even entered the restaurant, but I want her to become a truly big-hearted downtown mother, so I've written this as a review. m(__)m
