Hands down one of the best aquariums I have ever been to. Truth is, this aquarium is one of the most underrated spots in Tokyo a tourist can visit Visited today with my mother. I remember going in, thinking that it would be a quick visit. I thought it would take 30 minutes max to visit. After all, I thought, what did this aquarium offer that others didn’t? I compared this to Ripley’s in Toronto, and thought it would be the same Wrong, I was dead wrong. I came in and was immediately blown away. The queue was smooth, the staff that directed us was super friendly as well as helpful. Most importantly, we found it to be easy to locate. It was locating on the 8th floor of the new annex, down the escalator of the 9th floor The amount of details, colours, lights, species of fishes, was unreal. The fish tanks were also designed beautifully. There was also a rock that contained gold fishes in it, I really enjoyed the view The best part about the colours was the fact that they keep changing. I took a lot of photos, evident by the photos I provided below. Every single color, every time the colors changed, I loved it and I was amazed There was a unique section of different fishes, shown in pictures 1, 2 and 3. I looked at the description in detail and when I said at the top that there are lots of species of fishes, this is what I mean. Different species, different names, different colors. From looks to the way they swim to the tank being preserved beautifully, everything is done with details and it shows the proper care the museum puts into Pictures 4 and 5, it felt like walking into a laboratory. When the colors turned red, I was immediately blown away. I had to take pictures, I had to stop and appreciate the work of art, I had to look at them for a long time, marvelling at the fishes that swam inside those massive tanks Here is a part no one talks about: at the exit of the museum. Upon exiting the museum, there was a small art exhibit. The exhibit showcased cats as well as different pictures made by the artist himself. I thought it was a fine little add and something to rewind after being marvelled I spent an hour at the museum, marvelling at everything the museum had to offer. I recommend tourist to come visit and I might come back if given the chance

100 stars for this hidden gems inside a department store! Very well thought through journey (despite not being so big but they utilize the space very very well). We loved every single section. Be sure not to use the flash or tough anything and keep a close eye on your children as some parts could be a little dark and they can hit their head on the glass. Children are free (12 years and younger) which is very impressive. It shows they really want the younger generation to appreciate this fine art aquarium. There is no restroom inside (which made sense as it’s not huge) so you should use the restroom before entering. Do get tickets before hand in their website. Absolutely one of our highlights. Highly highly recommend!!!

If you love Goldfish this is the place for you. It is a live art museum showcasing thousands of goldfish (kingyo) as living sculptures. The exhibits combine glass installations, colorful lighting, projection mapping, traditional scents, and curated music to offer a completely immersive experience. I spent couple of hours watching Kingyo swim with the music, it was mesmerizing. I was also so surprised because in each exhibit halls the scents changes and it was relaxing. The place itself is meditative, so glad that most of the customer the day I came are Japanese.. so they are very polite and quiet, no people talking loudly and if they do they just murmur. I enjoyed the serenity on the day I visited.. its a meditation for me.

Visually, the museum is truly impressive and very elaborately designed. The lighting installations, colors, and overall presentation create a beautiful and unique atmosphere. You can clearly see that a lot of effort has gone into the staging, and it is definitely a place that leaves a strong visual impression. However, during my visit I increasingly felt uncomfortable. The fish especially the goldfish are kept in very small, often round containers, sometimes without any plants or structure at all. Some tanks appear completely empty, which makes the environment feel even more unnatural. I noticed that some fish barely moved or stayed at the bottom or along the edges for long periods, which did not seem like healthy behavior to me. Even though the fish may appear well maintained on the outside, it raises the question of whether this type of presentation is truly appropriate for their well-being. Fish generally need more space, hiding spots, and an environment that supports their natural behavior. The exhibition feels more like a decorative display, where the welfare of the animals is at least questionable. I understand the artistic concept and the idea behind it, but personally I could not fully enjoy the experience because I felt sorry for the fish. It left me with a somewhat bitter impression. I probably would not visit again and would hope that in the future more attention is given to animal welfare even in artistic exhibitions.

The Art Aquarium Museum in Ginza is unlike anything I've experienced. It masterfully blends art, technology, and nature; transforming fish into living brushstrokes on breathtaking, light-drenched canvasses. The effect is immersive and almost 4D, pushing the aquarium experience into an entirely new dimension. The aesthetic strikes a perfect balance: artistic, decorative, yet strikingly futuristic. Whether you're drawn to art, design, or simply beautiful things, something here will stop you in your tracks. This is not your typical aquarium; it's a full sensory journey. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Tokyo.
