They're not offensively overpolite, and they do greet you, but there's just so much pointless chatter. Chatting with a familiar big-eating customer about who came to film again, what date they'll next be on TV, how they can't reveal the details yet………please, get your hands moving on my order🙏 It's fine to value regulars, but ordinary customers are around too, so I don't think they should say things like “I added ◯◯ on the house.” Put the dishes side by side and the difference is obvious…… A famous place that often appears on TV for its eating challenges. The taste is average, the broth rather salty, and they did fry the cutlet for the katsudon fresh (because it was first thing in the morning), but the breading was oversized, 1.5 times the meat. Without its boast of giant portions, it's an ordinary soba shop. There doesn't seem to be parking (it said there was 1 space opposite, but someone who wasn't a customer was using it), and nowhere for bicycles either, so it seems you have to use the station building's paid parking. ✳️It says they open at 11, but that's approximate. They opened about 5 minutes late. A customer who arrived just before 11 waited outside, but left because they didn't open for a while. ✳️I got inside immediately, but as someone else wrote, your food won't arrive for more than 10 minutes after ordering, so wait patiently, even when it's quiet……… ✳️Prices are rising faster than inflation.

Visited on 2026.05.04. A few minutes' walk from Fuda Station on the Keio Line, facing a bus route. It's also just over 10 minutes on foot from Chofu Station, one stop farther from the Shinjuku side, where faster trains stop. On the 1st floor of a small building, the storefront has a historic feel. A Shigaraki tanuki statue adds character. Arrived around noon and entered. It was very windy that day, and opening the sliding door sent the laminated menus on the tables flying. This happened whenever customers came or went until I left. Customers closed the door firmly, but the other door bounced slightly open, so the wind kept blowing in. Since I came for a giant portion, I looked only at that menu, pretended to think briefly, then ordered Mega! Soba Chomoranman. It seemed to have been entered as Jr, so I hurriedly corrected it. The owner checked whether I was sure, as it was roughly 8 servings. Reviews and other information said giant portions took time; it arrived in about 20 minutes. 1.9kg in 25 minutes… I thought that would be just within my limit or a little beyond… but once I started eating, the familiar phenomenon struck: the noodles loosened and increased in volume. Quite a lot remained just before time ran out, and finishing took nearly 50 minutes, twice the limit. My body barely tolerates speed eating, so it couldn't be helped. As I finished, 2 families of 5~6 people arrived in succession, making the place suddenly busy. At checkout I received a Gadyu sticker as a souvenir. Leaving aside the overtime penalty, I couldn't shake the feeling it was overpriced. First I need to acquire speed-eating skills. There was also a slight mid-holiday slump in the atmosphere, not enough to point out but a little concerning. I don't think I can beat the time limit, but I'd like to try other menu items too.

I ordered the signature 「Mega Chomoranman Jr.」 (weighing 1.1kg) at 蕎麦処 若松屋. It looked like a huge amount at first, but the noodles were firm and went down smoothly, so I enjoyed every bite. I finished in about 20 minutes, but I think enjoying it at your own pace is better than forcing yourself into a timed challenge. There are plenty of other large-portion options, so I'd like to try something else next time. Incidentally, this 「Choi Mega」 series has no penalties, so even eating-challenge beginners can order comfortably and enjoy it casually. They also have regular soba and rice bowls, so I think families and friends would be satisfied here too.

A little under 15 minutes on foot from Chofu Station. There was another station before it… The route from Shinjuku said Chofu Station, so I walked a ton, but Fuda Station is closer. lol Inside is a homey soba shop. The walls are packed with autographs from famous big eaters!! Apparently it's famous in the competitive-eating scene🙆‍♂️ ◎What I ordered this timeᝰ✍️ Hiyashi chuka 1-kilo challenge Finish within 5 minutes🔥 Next to me, an up-and-coming eating personality was doing a 2-kilo challenge. Side by side, they looked completely different😂 lol Even during the challenge, it was genuinely delicious. The dashi poured over the noodles was tasty and matched them well. The toppings were pretty big (lol). As I stuffed my mouth, I kept thinking I'd rather eat it normally than speed-eat lol. My result was about 5 minutes 15 seconds! There was a mishap, so I probably could've done 5 minutes, but I got too relaxed drinking water😂 They have a huge menu too, so now I want to come back and eat normally. lol Thank you for the meal

Visited around 14:00 on a day off in December 2022. There were 2 raised-floor tables and about 5 regular tables, with 4 customers already there. One was eating soba from a large plate. This restaurant has a wide selection of giant-portion dishes. I sat at a large shared table and ordered the daily set of warm tanuki soba and a yakiniku rice bowl for 850円. While waiting, another customer's giant order was carried past. Apparently it was 「Mega! Katsudon Yakiniku Double Bowl 3500g」. As I stared in amazement at its size, the customer who ordered it smiled and said, “Amazing, right? Want a photo?” I accepted and snapped one. It made a nice memory. My order was ready after about 10 minutes. The broth had a gentle bonito aroma, was slightly sweet and a little thin. The soba was slightly springy with a faintly coarse texture. The yakiniku bowl used pork belly. Coated in a sweet-savory sauce with ginger and garlic, it was punchily delicious. It really encouraged eating rice. I alternated between shoveling down the yakiniku bowl and sipping soba broth until finished. I was full. Note that giant-portion orders seem to slow down other orders considerably, so anyone short on time should be careful.
