Looking back through old photos, I remembered, 「Ah, that was a lovely time」, so I'm posting about it. This was a little while ago, but after a leisurely family walk along Nogawa, it was evening, so we headed straight to Taketonbo. We'd found it by searching for okonomiyaki in the Chofu area. For the kids, it was their first experience of “cooking your own okonomiyaki.” They spread the batter with serious faces in front of the griddle, and when they managed to flip it, there were loud cheers. Experiences like that stay in your memory even more than the food itself. The freshly cooked okonomiyaki was fragrant outside and fluffy and light inside, and just the aroma of the sauce made us happy. The monja had a strong dashi umami too, a flavor that kept us eating. The interior felt somehow nostalgic, with an atmosphere where families could relax without feeling formal. I think the way conversation naturally grows as you eat is another special thing about teppanyaki restaurants. It's a place that leaves you feeling warm and wanting to return with your family.
View on GoogleThis is my top recommended okonomiyaki place in the Chofu area. But I always focus on teppanyaki, so I rarely make it to the okonomiyaki (haha). That's how delicious the dishes besides okonomiyaki and monja are. My recommendations are chicken thigh, p-toro, and garlic-butter-grilled gizzards; I always order these. And the fresh grapefruit sour uses 1 whole large grapefruit. I haven't actually explained the okonomiyaki or monja, have I (haha). But there are so many menu choices it's hard to decide. Everything is delicious, so please judge with your own taste buds (haha).
View on GoogleI felt like okonomiyaki, so I headed to Shibasaki Station. I went to 「Taketonbo」 near the station. Lunch was okonomiyaki mix-ten for 820円 and 2 glasses of Suntory PSB at 580円 each. (All before tax) PSB tastes bad when I buy a can and drink it at home, but as draft beer at a restaurant, it's surprisingly acceptable. You cook the okonomiyaki yourself. It's been ages since I did that. Maybe about 30 years^_^; I cooked it for about 3 minutes×3 minutes×2 minutes×2 minutes. Unfortunately, the sauce felt a little weak. But it was nicely fluffy and tasty. The price might be high. Around 500円~600円 would make me happier as someone who used to live in Kansai.

Sticks of mochi are arranged into a hexagon, and the filling is poured inside. It's garlicky and really delicious! Please give it a try. ③Bad points There are only 2 guys working the floor, so they look busy, and service was a little slow! But that can't be helped. ④About the service Both guys work really hard, are pleasant, handsome, and absolutely great!
View on GoogleIt's an old-fashioned Showa-style place, with Showa pop songs playing as background music. The menu is very extensive, and the food is reliably delicious. The interior certainly can't be called clean, but I highly recommend it to anyone who can see that as part of its character.
