Okonomiyaki restaurant

We opened our okonomiyaki business in Shibasaki as a husband-and-wife team in Showa 43 and have continued to this day. Our okonomiyaki is cooked in layers, with roots in Kyoto's issen yoshoku. We don't precut the cabbage; we cut it after receiving your order. Yakisoba (sauce flavor) and yakiudon (soy sauce flavor) use different cabbage cuts, creating enjoyable differences in texture. Teppanyaki with meat, seafood, vegetables, eggs, cheese, and more also makes a good accompaniment to drinks. Since we run the place as a husband-and-wife team, please allow a little time. Couples, small groups, and solo guests are welcome.

Shikoku-ya was our second home when my now wife and lived in Shibasaki from 1985 to 1987. Umeji sama and Hitomi sama were our family. 12 seats, a large teppan and a genius chef who taught me so much about quality ingredients, great seasoning and the importance of service with a smile. We lived in Tokyo again from 1988 to 1990 and came to Shikokuya every chance we could. If you want honest and authentic okanomeyaki, yaki soba and Umeji's specials served with cold beer, great saki and amazing sochu. ...this is the place. Can't wait to go back. Starting in 2025, apparently their regular closing days are now every Monday and every Tuesday! Shikokuya has finally introduced a 2-day weekend too😂 That's good, that's good😊 I hope they rest properly and keep going for a looong time. Phone reservations are still recommended on weekends. It gets quite busy on weekdays too. It's the kind of place for taking it easy, so I don't think it suits party people who want to drink, drink, drink, or people who can't wait. Mellow and relaxed, wanting a little connection with someone— I'd recommend it to people like that. For okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and yakiudon, all the toppings 🟰 luxurious feels a little unsophisticated at this shop, I think. Just one topping you like, or about that much, is probably the best way to enjoy Shikokuya's flavors. I love this very Shibasaki sort of place. I privately consider it my second family home (lol). They've offered takeaway for a long time, but with the recent new-coronavirus situation, they say they'll work even harder on takeout~. Please give it a try if you have the chance. They accept takeout reservations by phone too~.

Drawn in by the atmosphere! You can enjoy okonomiyaki, teppanyaki, and alcoholic drinks. Actually, I love yakisoba and wanted that more than okonomiyaki, so I ordered yakisoba first! Opening the door reveals a counter facing the teppan; there are 6 counter seats and 4 table seats. This time I ate at the counter♪ You can choose the ingredients for both yakisoba and okonomiyaki to suit your tastes. My ordered yakisoba on the teppan right in front of me.... Rather than just having food arrive, the pleasure of watching it being made before your eyes is something special. And the owner's spatula skills are cool. Fun to watch and delicious to eat, it kept the drinks flowing, and I also ordered the egg dish an older customer already there had ordered. I don't even know whether it's on the menu, but it made the drinks flow even more. The husband and wife work in perfect harmony? They're both very kind, and it's a lovely restaurant that makes you want to see them again. Maybe I'll try modanyaki next time.

Delicious! The okonomiyaki is fluffy and juicy, and the yakiudon has springy shrimp and goes down so easily I could keep eating it! The yakisoba is delicious too, so it's hard to decide what to eat before getting full. The lady is a Takarazuka fan.

I visited Shikokuya for the first time after being curious about it for a while. The dishes finished on the main large teppan really are fantastic. It's nearby, so I'll definitely return.
