Visited for a weekend dinner. Both inside and outside have a very understated, old-school atmosphere. Ordered the sardine set meal for 1,700円. Rather than a set meal, it was more like a small sardine course, and very delicious. Everything was handmade; even the pickles were tasty. I enjoyed sardines in various preparations. You can also order good alcoholic drinks, which is another plus.

A small, cozy restaurant with a fantastic atmosphere 2 tables for 4, tatami seating, and a counter First, the menu is extensive, with lots of tasty-looking options for an izakaya. They also have hot pots for 1 person, so apparently there are regulars who come alone. Very friendly, delicious, and recommended

Turn left from the ticket gates at 仙川駅 and cross the crosswalk to find an enticing tucked-away area. Next to the lively 【きくや】, 【いわし料理こしじ】 has an even more inviting appearance. An elderly couple runs it. They had sardine set meals and courses, but this time I ordered sardine sashimi, simmered sardines, and 柳川. The 鰯の柳川 arrived piping hot in an iron pot and was very delicious. Then I returned for lunch the following week. Ordered the sardine sashimi set and アジフライ. The sashimi was as fresh as ever, and the fried fish had a fairly thick coating. I wonder how many more years the couple can keep going~, a restaurant I'd definitely like to revisit. By the way, their son runs the Chinese restaurant next door.

I returned because I remembered the food being good on a visit about 2 years ago. The hand towel they brought was yellowed, giving me a bad feeling. I ordered sardine sashimi, but the cutting and presentation seemed careless. When I asked for a stirrer to mix my drink, they pulled one from the ice bucket used by another customer who had just left and handed it to me. I thought it had saliva on it and couldn't use it. I left quickly. A disappointing return visit.
