View on Google【A Nepalese restaurant that suddenly seems to exist】 This place is very close to my home. As a curry lover, I'd been curious, but whenever I looked, there were no customers, so I kept hesitating to enter for aaages (nearly several years). My wish finally came true (?) with my first visit. (A weekday afternoon.) The lunch menu also had chahan (or something like it: sweat) and yakisoba (or something like it: sweat), but I ordered a curry set without hesitation. This place has 6 types of curry, with a single-curry set where you choose 1, or a set where you choose any 2. Again, I chose the 2-curry set. <Set contents> ・2 curries (I chose saag chicken and mutton) ・Salad ・Chicken tikka ・Naan (choice of naan or rice) ・Iced chai (selected) That's the set. All for 1,050 yen. First, the curry's spiciness: the menu said to choose from 3 levels, ①mild to ③slightly spicy. So, without hesitation, I chose ④hot. It wasn't extremely spicy, but making it any hotter (with this restaurant's cooking method) would likely throw off the flavor. Oh yes, the important part—the taste. I'd say it's somewhat light, in the sense that it doesn't sit heavily in your stomach. A fairly decent standard. The naan is completely ordinary. It's slightly thin, so it lacks a little chewiness. As the photo shows, it's served on a plate, and for some reason rice comes with it too. The so-called Indian rice. This is ordinarily tasty too. Even though it was after 13 on a weekday, there were a fair number of customers. As a neighbor, I felt a little relieved. The staff's unfriendly manner doesn't bother you if you simply accept that's how it is. The slightly high prices at this location far from the station concern me, but I hope they keep doing their best. ※The comments above are from my first visit in August 2014.
View on GoogleDEVI Namaste, everyone. I went for dinner with my companion. I got a good feeling from how well-used the tandoor oven and pots were here. The way the chicken tikka and naan were cooked had real depth, with especially delicious charred spots and their roasted aroma brought out to the fullest. We ordered the B set (2 curries, naan, small rice, chicken tikka, salad, drink), plus chana chatpata and onion bhaji as sides. For my set, I chose saag paneer curry and dal curry, medium spicy. The paneer (cottage cheese) was rich and delicious, and together with the chopped ginger, it kept me eating more naan. The dal was also very tasty, with the lentils simmered until falling apart. Salads at this kind of restaurant usually use unremarkable ingredients like lettuce, but this one had raw onion, which added a change in flavor and made it unexpectedly delicious. The chicken tikka was beautifully cooked: tender meat, fat nicely retained between the skin and flesh, and an irresistible charcoal aroma. Chana chatpata is a chickpea dish. The menu says it is cold, but it comes warm. The boiled chickpeas are fluffy and cooked with chili and onion, topped with a little green onion and ginger. Personally, I thought it was spicy and a good snack with alcohol. Onion bhaji is onion rings with spices in the batter, like pakora. Delicious, so definitely try it as a side. My companion's curry was Muraga mukkhan palak, a chicken, butter, and spinach curry. It had chicken cooked in that tandoor and spinach added as it was, unlike saag. The base was mild and sweetish, but ordering it medium spicy (I think regular would simply taste sweet) made both the seasoning and ingredients just right. The other was saag mushroom. The saag was unquestionably delicious, and the mushrooms had a pleasantly firm texture. Also, the mango juice here uses a variety of mango I personally like and tastes great. As for the chai issue at restaurants like this (just royal milk tea without even a hint of spice), this one was better than at other places. Perhaps the tea or milk was better. And I discovered something: adding the ginger syrup from the sweet dessert called gulab jamun to the chai made it delicious! Gulab jamun is a warm dessert of fried wheat-flour dumplings soaked in sweet ginger syrup. The staff said customers sometimes tell them it is too sweet to eat, but I did not think it was that bad, and I was glad the syrup came in handy for the chai. Say Namaste to everyone. I took dinner with my companies. I felt that here the Tandoor is well-used cuz the doneness of the naan and chicken was deeply nice. They have both crispy and soft parts. I tried B set: two select curries, naan, small rice, salad, chicken tikka and drink. Also ordered side menus I took sag panir curry and daal curry. Middle hot. The paneer was more wild taste that I loved and some chopped ginger made curry nice. About dal curry, lens beans well cooked to be almost melted. These curries were good combination of goodly toasted naan. Sesame naan is very nice too. Usually salad is like a decoration(means nothing special) but here raw onion inside of it that made it better taste! Chicken tikka was well grilled spread nice charcoal burned smell. Yummy juice preserved between skin and meat. Chana chatpata is cooked with boiled chick beans and onions and put little ginger and green onion was hot. (Better to drink with) Onion vajiya is like onion ring was tasty. I like this crispy fried skin contained fragrant spices. Recommend as side. My company tried Muraga mukkhan palak curry(tandoor grilled chicken with spinach was taste mild so better to order middle hot) was really nice. And Sag mushroom(spinach based curry with mushrooms) was nice too especially I like the texture of mushroom. And here the mango juice was delicious! If you thirsty, it is better than lassi I guess. Tried dessert Gulab jamun was yummy and might interesting taste for you. Cut sweet fried flour ball sank sweet ginger syrup. The chef told us it is too sweet then sometimes customer gave up to eat but thought it was okey. And I discovered that as you know chai is just milk tea at such ethnic restaurant (I always wonder why they don’t serve the original spice tea) and when I put the that ginger syrup into milk tea, taste became better by the way.
View on GoogleThe interior is sparkling clean. The cheese naan (the amount of cheese is amazing) and keema curry were both delicious. I'll be back.
