Grilled coho salmon set meal, 1,100円. Were they already grilling fish in anticipation of upcoming orders?. The grilled coho salmon set arrived in about 5 minutes. The coho salmon flesh was plump. It was reasonably tasty, and I enjoyed it. The staff recommended the collar for the same price, but I can't handle strong fishiness, so I declined!
View on Google(2025/12 Added breakfast comment) If you add 「唐揚」 from the "Have one more dish!" section to the breakfast 「納豆定食」, it costs the same as adding 「納豆」 to 「唐揚の朝定食」, but you get 2 fewer pieces of karaage, so beware! Here, ordering 「納豆定食」+「唐揚」 is a losing move. (lol) ---------------------- (2025/12 Added after visiting for breakfast) Few places around here serve a proper Japanese set meal from the morning (actually, I don't know any others), so this is a valuable restaurant. It takes a little time to arrive, but you get freshly cooked, piping-hot side dishes with a fish-trimmings soup full of ingredients and a raw egg. I often add the optional natto (+100円) and upgrade to a large rice (+100円), and having a substantial meal in the morning gives me energy for the day. ※Breakfast payments are cash only. They also apparently close on Wednesdays in addition to the restaurant's regular closing days. Please keep that in mind. ------------------------------------------------ Visited for lunch. I had a large (+100円) seafood bowl (1,350円) with the fried oyster set (+350円). Total: 1,800円. I hadn't expected the seafood bowl to use piping-hot rice rather than vinegared rice. The set's fried oysters are fried after ordering, so they're hot. A sashimi set+fried oysters or fried horse mackerel might have been the right choice. Some reviews say payment is cash only, but electronic money was accepted.
View on GoogleVisited for lunch. Couldn't decide between a seafood bowl, grilled fish, and simmered fish. Looking around, the grilled fish seemed a little big, so I ordered grilled salmon. It was properly large and nicely salted. Quite a few people were ordering fried dishes too. The miso soup was ordinary. I recommend the fish set meals.
View on Google2026/6 Lunch Miso mackerel and sashimi set The sashimi had 3 varieties, including cured mackerel, and was tastier than the miso mackerel. The miso mackerel flesh was dry in places, so it wasn't something I'd want to eat again. Lots of trays left after customers finished eating were piled up in the pantry, which looked bad and seemed to spoil the restaurant's atmosphere. I sat at the counter, but the spacing between seats was rather narrow, and I felt I'd bump into the next customer unless I tucked myself in a little.
View on GoogleI saw photos of horse mackerel tataki and grilled salmon at a restaurant called こし庵 and wanted to try them, so I visited. The menu (display) seemed different somehow‥ But the salmon I wanted was there, so I ordered it. I already knew they offered karaage and fried horse mackerel as toppings. It was listed as karaage, but was actually tatsuta-age. The set meal was 1100円 plus tatsuta-age at 350円. It arrived in just 3 minutes (shocked) Had the salmon already been grilled? That's fine, but wasn't the tatsuta-age way too fast? Microwaved rather than fried? Probably so‥ It was indeed greasy. This was a mistake. But the coho salmon was delicious. It was really well salted, and even I, who always adds soy sauce, finished it without any. Thanks for the meal. When I left, こし庵 was next door (LOL) Apparently this was its sister restaurant, 「つぶ庵」‥ I won't make that mistake next time.
