CASH ONLY; NO ENGLISH MENU Small old school ramen shop under the train tracks ran by an older gentleman. Step 1: Order item from the ticket machine outside Step 2: Place ticket on the counter and get yourself some water Step 3: Wait till ramen is served Step 4: EAT AND ENJOY Step 5: Throw out tissues in the small white trashcan at the entrance (do NOT throw it into the bowl) I ordered the Menma Ramen. Broth was a simple shoyu (soy sauce) based clear broth. The broth and menma tasted amazing. The char siu was a little bit on the saltier end. If you were to go after some drinks (the shop closes at 7:30PM though), it’ll be the perfect warm bowl with a bit of a salty kick.
View on GoogleI ate the charsiu wonton ramen, regular size. Even though it was regular size the portion was generous. Charsiu was thick, savoury, meaty, and flavourful. And I got 5 pieces. ❤️ The atmosphere is unlike most of the other shops nearby. It is gritty and as other reviews have said, Showa-esque. Do not be fearful of the atmosphere. Very close to Tokyo station. If you are in the area please visit Tani Ramen.

View on GoogleThis the authentic “Tokyo Ramen.’ If you are a Showa fan or watched Itami Juzo’s Tampopo this is what it was all about. Been coming to Tani for over 10 years, less frequently since I moved my office. It is always an authentic, delicious experience so head under the train tracks and check it out.
View on GoogleThe Showa era ramen. Not the Showa like tasted, real Showa. At that time, ramen wasn't so tasty and/or yummy. So, it's not delicious but it's the catch. Like go back in time. If you really really want to know what Japanese ate 50 years ago, you can taste that here.
