タジー食堂 岩本町店Tajii Shokudo Iwamoto Machi Mise
Keeping the excitement of Thai cuisine, known for the stimulating flavors of herbs and spices such as lemongrass and cilantro, a new Asian ethnic cuisine originating in Japan has emerged, combining delicious ingredients from across Japan with proud elements of Japanese food culture such as dashi. In a modern, casual space, enjoy flavors that seem familiar yet are new to you, along with a refreshing feeling as though you have just taken a brief trip. タジー食堂 actively uses domestically produced ingredients and is especially particular about 「rice」. For example, our rice noodle dishes are made from 「亜細亜のかおり」 rice, specially developed for rice noodles together with rice farmers in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture…

Visited after noon. It was past 13:00, so I got in smoothly. The service was polite and left a very good impression. The restaurant is stylish, and the interior is relaxing. I had trouble deciding while looking at the menu, but tried the special set. The name is very good too. I chose red for the curry and Tom Yum for the noodles. First, the overall flavor is Japanese-style. I don’t think it’s dashi, but something tastes Japanese. The spiciness and aroma are restrained to make it easy to eat. The seasoning is fairly strong. The gapao was the tastiest. Personally, I like spicy food, so I added something spicy. I prefer more spice and plenty of herbs, but this is good too.
View on GoogleFor the half & half lunch, I had Red Curry and Tom Yum shrimp soup noodles (fresh rice noodles). The Red Curry had almost no noticeable heat. The rice was Japanese rice. The Tom Yum shrimp soup noodles had a distinct shrimp broth flavor and a good aroma, but were quite sweet. I went in with high expectations after seeing the sign saying 「Thai curry and rice noodles」, but was told that the concept is to help Japanese people enjoy rice, so the flavors have been adapted to Japanese tastes.
View on GoogleA Thai restaurant that opened on October 7, 2024. The half & half at 1200円 lets you enjoy two menu items. Since I don’t like seafood, I chose gapao and green curry. The interior features wood. I thought it might feel like a stylish café, but perhaps because it had just opened, it felt like the whole family was working together, with lively voices coming through. I think there were 5 counter seats and 3 tables? It feels larger than it looks from outside. I haven’t had green curry very often, but since herbs & spices are their selling point, this one had a rich flavor. The gapao had a gentle flavor. I added the spice mix available in the restaurant, so I forgot to check whether it was spicy to begin with. They said the rice is Japanese-grown, but a variety suited to Thai cuisine. Indeed, its delicious Japanese-rice flavor combined with the separate-grain texture typical of Thai food makes it unlike rice elsewhere. Nearby is ポニー食堂, with slightly lower prices. How will this place differentiate itself? The menu seems limited to October and November, so I’m hoping it expands once they get used to the operations. I returned after quite a while since the opening. I hesitated because the bento was better value, but I felt like having a leisurely lunch, so I ate inside. Toward the end, people were waiting, so I finished my meal while thinking I should eat a little faster. Just as I was about to drink some water, I was asked, “May I clear your plate?” It had only been about 5 seconds since I finished eating— I had absolutely no intention of lingering during lunchtime, and I understand how the restaurant staff feel, but it somehow left me feeling terribly gloomy. It made me feel that I don’t want to return.
View on GoogleThe green curry was delicious. The heat felt somewhere between medium and hot. The seasoning was complex and subtle, with a nice ethnic feel. It seems you can ask for less rice, so since I’m on a diet, maybe I’ll get less next time… I sat at the counter, and there was a water carafe? in front of each seat, so being able to pour my own water was nice too.
View on GoogleHalf & half (green curry, special sea bream broth noodles, genmaicha?) 1,200円 Big bonus points for the fried egg sitting prominently on top even though it’s a half portion! You can change the flavor of the broth noodles with the tabletop condiments Cashless payments only (transit cards, credit cards, Edy, etc.) Thank you for the meal.
