Nice Japanese saki. Eel liver. Good BBQ.
View on Google【The conscience of 神田】 Drawn by the good Google reviews, I visited for the first time. We had no reservation, but 2 counter seats were available and we were shown there. We looked through the menu and ordered mainly seafood. There were already around 3 groups totaling 10 people, with another 2 groups totaling around 8 arriving after us. With 1 person in the kitchen and 1 serving, they were run off their feet. The food took a while to arrive, but every dish was so delicious it drew sighs of “haa” and “hoo.” Seafood generally seems to be their specialty. As I'm not much of a drinker, the 2 of us shared a large bottle of beer and had 8 dishes. The bill was such good value that I thought, “Are you sure this is enough?” We walked in on a whim, but it was a lovely place that felt like 『the conscience of 神田』. Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleThe winter-only hamaguri hot pot, available until around March, is exquisite. It's packed with big, plump clams. They make a wonderful broth, and it's excellent right through the finishing dish. All the other dishes and sashimi are delicious too. The service is homely, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed meal. Reservations required!
View on GoogleIf you want to immerse yourself in Showa nostalgia in the Reiwa era, do visit. The drink selection isn't large, but that's actually a good thing. All the snacks are made for drinkers. Many people seem to order sashimi, but my personal recommendations are yakitori and shirauo tamagotoji. Since the place is run by 2 people, please wait patiently for your food when it's busy☆ It's a lovely place to stop after work and give your exhausted mind and body a little warmth.
View on GoogleA vividly colored noren curtain and a distinguished storefront. It's in a quiet back alley near JR神田駅. A hideaway you wouldn't find unless you deliberately sought it out. One of the fine back-alley izakaya still plentiful around 神田. A little after 8:30 on a weekday evening, I opened the sliding door and spotted a vacant corner of the tatami seating. I told the proprietress there were 2 of us, and she kindly cleared the dishes, saying, “I'll clear it right away~.” Once she'd finished, we carefully made our way to the tatami seats. Sitting there, we took in the down-to-earth yet subtly elegant, distinguished interior. Lovely~. Truly relaxing. Along with the otoshi came a rolled paper menu tucked into a glass. Here in celebrated Edo's 神田, even little touches feel stylish. As this was our second stop that evening, we carefully selected 『〆さば/680円』 『平目/market price』 『あさり酒蒸し/650円』 『鳥から揚/650円』 『やきとり/580円』 and ordered them in sequence. For drinks, we had 4 types: draft beer, Hi-Sour, sake, and unpasteurized sake. The mackerel and hirame sashimi were so fresh the cut edges stood sharp. Thick, generous, and unquestionably delicious. The strongly flavored sashimi soy sauce was great too. The sake-steamed asari have a flavor any Japanese person would find comforting. Such a simple menu, yet what high quality! Another standout was the “やきとり.” Served on a plate rather than skewers. I usually prefer salt-grilled chicken, but the sauce here is delicious. Add the sansho piled at the plate's edge and it's sheer joy. Not only the skin-on chicken, but the beautifully charred long onions were sweet, fragrant, and exquisite! I wish they had a dish of just grilled long onions. We stayed only about 90 minutes, but it was an evening drink packed with satisfaction. The proprietress and chef's warm, gentle smiles were wonderful too. A fine place that makes you want to become a regular. I'll definitely return.
