Being next to a shrine, this place is amazingly quiet even with all tables full with families and young children. The food is of great quality and enables you to enjoy the taste of every ingredient. Savour the meal before or after you visit the shrine. It will make you happy anyway.

Our family's first shrine visit of every year is to Hie Jinja⛩️ Apparently the café restaurant reopened after renovations last year, so we had lunch at Sanno Saryo. A café that uses ingredients from around Tokyo as much as possible for local consumption. I like the concept too❤️ The interior is bright, with the wood furnishings popular these days and a calming atmosphere. Only the limited New Year menu was available until 1/11, so we chose the "abalone and vegetable curry" and "red-and-white salmon and boiled whitebait rice bowl with salmon roe". The abalone curry came with a fairly large salad. The vegetables were colorful and fresh, and the dressing was delicious too. The abalone was pleasantly firm, and the curry was Japanese-style, with dashi flavors that went very well with the abalone. The whitebait bowl also had plenty of boiled whitebait, and the fluffy bonito flakes around it and dashi soy sauce were delicious. The salmon and salmon roe were the real thing too! The soup was delicious and perfect for women. The multigrain rice was another plus! I would order either again. Both were 3200 yen each, but apparently they normally have affordable dishes in the 1000-yen range too, so it seems suitable for solo diners. The New Year menu was on the expensive side, so many people were having desserts. Still, the dashi is delicious, so the meal dishes might be my recommendation.

I had the katsu curry without expecting much, but was surprised by how delicious it was. Being inside the shrine grounds, it had a pure atmosphere and I could enjoy a leisurely meal. Last orders are at 16:30, so keep that in mind.

A place I had been curious about for a long time. I happened to visit the shrine at lunchtime, so I stopped by. There were many appealing café dishes, and after some deliberation I chose the fried seafood. Freshly fried seafood is not easy to make at home, so it made me happy. The tea after the meal came with chocolate too, and I could relax.
