I ordered one serving of nigiri, 1,100円. It was served without much of a wait. It included 2 tuna pieces, amberjack, squid, salmon, gizzard shad, inari, dried gourd roll, and rolled omelet, with clear soup. The rice portions were generous. Tuna seems to be the restaurant’s specialty, and I thought it was quite good. But what are we to make of ordering Edomae nigiri sushi and getting inarizushi? When it says Edomae nigiri, I expect fish; if I wanted inari, I would order inari or sukeroku. Once at a certain restaurant in Tsukiji, I received nigiri topped with simmered fried tofu instead of fish, which also left me incredulous. My personal view is that inarizushi has no place in Edomae nigiri. A sushi restaurant right by Suehirocho Station. The daily special sign seems to change every day, and on some days it is marked sold out before 12:30. That gave me the impression it was quite busy. When I passed that day, the special was 「中とろ丼」1000円. I opened the door and went in without much hope, but luckily there were plenty of empty seats. After being instructed to sanitize with alcohol, I sat at a counter seat with a partition. I promptly ordered the chutoro bowl with less rice. Apparently, besides extra rice, you can also order extra chutoro. Both cost extra. My timing seems to have been good, as the chutoro bowl sold out after the next 2 customers. The chutoro seemed to include various cuts, all delicious with just the right amount of fat. The sushi rice was naturally good too. It was a slight pity that the soup was not miso soup, but the tuna was delicious, so I was very satisfied. The regular menu also had a tuna bowl, so next time I will have nigiri or a tuna bowl.
View on GoogleBack for sushi at lunch after a long while. They offer a lunch-only menu. Sushi for under 1,000 is reasonably priced. We ordered 1.5 servings of nigiri for 1,300円 (tax included) and 1 serving for 900円 (tax included). Perhaps tuna is their focus, as the variety is not extensive, but the preparation is careful and the flavor is good. The dried gourd rolls are delicious, with neither overpowering sweetness nor saltiness, making them easy to enjoy. The inari is also tender enough to fall apart gently and easy to eat. Note that the 1.5 serving has more tuna and squid than the 1 serving, rather than a wider variety. The interior is quiet and clean. Given the times, infection-prevention measures were in place, including limits on customer numbers. Posted notices are understandable. Next time, the chutoro bowl!
View on GoogleI was very satisfied to enjoy delicious sushi (a tuna bowl) in Tokyo for no more than a thousand yen. Visited for lunch. The miso soup was a little strong. It was simple, with only tofu in it. Someone once said that adding two ingredients muddies the flavor, so I found it delicious. Thank you for the meal.
