麺一筋 used to be in Monzen-Nakacho, and I ate there often. The Monzen-Nakacho branch apparently operated under a shared-name arrangement, but it has closed and no longer exists. This one seems to be the main shop? I ordered the standard menu item 魂のラーメン and rice. A large serving of noodles was free, but extra noodles didn't appeal to me much, so I ordered rice. Unfortunately, the rice portion was small and felt dry. The noodles are medium-thick, and the soup has a strong soy sauce flavor. A type I quite like. The floating fat also felt nostalgic (personally reminding me of the Monzen-Nakacho shop). The fish-based soup uses seasonings from Hiroshima. The vinegar and furikake on the table are also from Hiroshima. But I feel the flavor has changed quite a lot compared with the old days. Of course, the shop itself, the location, and the person making it are all different. Still, something feels different overall. I feel like there used to be more umami. It's certainly not bad, and it's a style of ramen I quite like, but whether I'd go out of my way to eat it again is questionable. Still, regional ramen eaten in Tokyo inevitably seems to lose some quality. That goes for many Kyushu ramen places, Toyama Black, and so on… Well, I suppose it can't be helped. You really have to eat it where it comes from.
