Menu is changed depend on the date. One day one type of set menu. The foods all good. There is Japanese style sweet after meal. People are kind. Comfortable atmosphere.
View on GoogleIt's a little strange, but this cafeteria has a definite home/family-style. When you walk in, you aren't presented with a menu to choose from, because there's just one option. But that option is a teishoku set that changes each day, but always has rice, a main dish, a vegetable dish, miso soup, hot tea, and free refills on everything (except the main dish sometimes). If you want a taste of what it's like to eat in a Japanese house, check it out! And returning customers get ¥100 off for as long as they keep the loyalty card.

View on GoogleVisited for the first time in several years. Mirai Shokudo's prices and style remain unchanged, and I felt lucky to be able to eat such carefully prepared, good-value food around Jimbocho. Walking around the area, more and more places seem to charge around 1,300円 everywhere, so it's wonderful that they have kept going amid such rising prices. The restaurant is open Tuesday–Saturday, closed Sunday and Monday. The posts from people leaving low review scores are based on such personal opinions and interpretations that I wonder whether they're functioning properly as working adults. I don't understand what they're trying to warn anyone about.
View on GoogleSomehow, I found an incredible place. About a 5-minute walk from Jimbocho Station, Mirai Shokudo is tucked away at the back of an equally tucked-away restaurant area in the basement of the Japan Education Center. How do I put it? Before simply being good or bad, this is food that tastes good for your body. And food that tastes good for your body ultimately comes back around to tasting delicious. It was that kind of meal, nourishing both body and soul. The only menu option is the daily set meal. It consists of the day's side dish, brown rice, soup, and fruit for dessert, with refills available for the brown rice and soup. Today's daily dish was japchae, absolutely packed with vegetables. The stir-frying was distinctive too: it seemed almost slightly undercooked, but somehow that level of cooking seemed to bring out the onion and celery flavors more strongly. There were crumbled croquettes in it too. Overall it looked rather clumpy, but it was lightly seasoned and deeply nourishing, delicious in a quietly comforting way. The soup was a clear shiitake soup, with the simple flavor of shiitake stock coming through. The brown rice also went very well with this kind of simple fare. There was plenty of fruit for dessert too: melon and mango, plus unlimited refills of grapefruit and pineapple. Isn't it wonderful to get plenty of fruit after a meal? And I think 800円 for all this is far too cheap (the first visit was 900円, but you get a 100円 discount voucher, making it 800円 from your next visit). The proprietress said she can offer this price because a greengrocer shares leftover vegetables with her. Although they were leftovers, they didn't seem any less fresh at all, and the resulting daily-menu-only style adds the pleasure of wondering, “What will it be today?” each time you come. The very courteous proprietress seems to run everything alone. Simple yet rich food, a sensible business model, the atmosphere: in every respect, it feels more like the only one than number one, a unique gem unlike any other. I must come back.
