Ramen is like art. The bowl is an blank canvas. What you add into it could make it a failure or a masterpiece. This place creates masterpiece. It creates a fusion style ramen with element of smoked duck paired with creamy chicken broth . A peppery bacon wrap with asparagus, blowtorch crisps. The combination is a match made in heaven. I do not know am I super hungry or it was superb food that day. I had operation clean bowl with satisfaction to my inner core.
View on GoogleMenko Ushio was one of the best ramen meals I had in Tokyo. We were brought here by my friend’s uncle who’s a local, and it’s easy to see why this place is such a hidden gem. The creamy chicken broth is incredibly rich and velvety without feeling too heavy, packing tons of umami in every sip. The noodles pair perfectly with the soup, making it hard to stop eating. I also noticed it has excellent ratings on Tabelog, which is Japan’s most trusted restaurant review platform, and after eating here I completely understand the hype. If you’re looking to get away from the more touristy ramen spots and try somewhere locals actually recommend, Menko Ushio is absolutely worth the visit.
View on GoogleWe had the black-broth ramen and white-broth ramen. We upsized the black broth ramen to large for free. Both the black and white ramen broth were delicious and quite unique. The white one was somewhat like carbonara. It was eggy, creamy, and also fragrant, with a touch of fried shallots. It was rich and thick but not 'heavy'. The black one was thinner and 'deeper' than the white one. It has a complex aroma and taste of herbs and soy sauce. Very enjoyable. The only condiment they serve was ground pepper, which aroma and taste compliments both ramen broth well. Each portion contain a generous amount of meat, including 1 bacon-covered-asparagus. All the meat were juicy and tasty. 😁 There are counter seats and indoor table seats. When we came, there were no line and almost no customer (we came outside of usual-dining-hour). The store have this 'chill' vibe with chill music playing in the background, almost as relaxing as a cafe.
View on GoogleOne of the best ramen I had. ¥1100 for the light grilled duck & cha shu ramen. Soft grilled duck paired with the chewy noodles and light smoky flavour of the broth. Only downside was the overly cooked egg which wasn't my preference. Service and ambience were also good. Highly recommend as there were no other tourists when we ate and only locals.
View on GoogleThe broth is so fragrant and eggy. Noodles aldente. The chasiu, bacon asparagus and duck pair nicely as well. The white soup has a creamy taste, with some fried shallot to boost it. I prefer the black soup that has a thick eggy soy taste!
