Chiyoda Ward: Kōtōkai Dedicated Sake Barrels" Photographed in August 2024. As for the Kōtōkai, it was formed as an association of the Tokyo branches of Nada sake brewing companies and continues to this day; its name is said to come from the "Kō" of Mt. Rokkō and the "Tō" of Tokyo. The members are 11 breweries: "Fukumusume, Kikumasamune, Ozeki, Gekkeikan, Takara Shuzo, Tatsuuma-Honke Shuzo, Sakuramasamune, Konishi Shuzo, Sawanotsuru, Hakutsuru Shuzo, Nihonsakari". Every one of them a famous maker. By the way, Meiji Jingu has "straw-wrapped sake barrels (komodaru)", and barrels from this Kōtōkai are offered there as well.
View on GoogleIn a long, narrow building set up on the right side of the second torii, four-to barrels of brand-name sakes such as Gekkeikan, Hakushika, Shochikubai, Shirayuki, Hakutsuru, and Ozeki are on display. They were apparently dedicated by the "Kōtōkai", an association of ten sake brewing companies headquartered in Nada, Hyogo Prefecture.
