I couldn't find the entrance, so I called, and they came out to welcome me very courteously. That person's service captured my heart from beginning to end. I was already full and had only come in thinking I'd just have soba, but every dish was so carefully prepared that I kept eating more and more. Perhaps it's a hidden gem at night, because I could really take my time. It was so delicious I forgot to take photos, and the tea 🍵 they served was wonderful. Seeing bunka-boshi dried mackerel and ham cutlets on the menu won me over all over again. I ate so much I almost forgot to order soba, and my companion and I burst out laughing. They even brought soba cooking water, and when they said, "This will be too strong," and adjusted it for me, I thought, what amazing service! That fussing over me felt like coming home to the countryside. I thought it was a space where you could feel at ease.

《I nervously went in wondering whether outsiders were allowed, but it was lively with all kinds of people》 Visited for lunch during a work break. It's inside a building called 都道府県会館, which I'd never even heard of. I wondered whether only affiliated people could enter… So I went in feeling nervous. It turned out all sorts of people use it, and my worries were completely unfounded. The restaurant is reasonably spacious, with tables and a counter. Perhaps it was just that day, but one motherly woman was handling the dining room alone. Although seats were available, I couldn't sit down right away and waited about 20 minutes. But perhaps there are many regulars, because people spoke considerately to her and poured their own water even though it apparently isn't normally self-service. It felt very homey. I love that kind of atmosphere, so personally I didn't mind waiting. The menu has individual soba and udon dishes and set meals. Free large portions are a real treat. I visited around 12:30, but the tempura rice bowl set was already sold out, and soon after I ordered, the tuna scraping rice bowl set and katsudon set sold out too. Honestly, the tuna scrapings were watery and the soba barely smelled of buckwheat, so the food wasn't particularly delicious. Still, for some reason I feel like visiting again. Thanks for the meal!

A soba restaurant in the basement of 都道府県会館 in Nagatacho. Prices feel like a neighborhood soba shop, but the location also lends it a slightly formal atmosphere. The soba is perfectly tasty, but the value is what really stands out. Rice bowl and soba/udon sets start at 800円〜, and although I didn't order one this time, large noodle portions are also free. (Return visit) Ordered ten-seiro. For the tempura, you can choose either shrimp ×2 plus vegetables, or a combination of shrimp, conger eel, and vegetables. Having conger eel is a personal ◎. There are also 3 vegetables: green pepper, sweet potato, and eggplant. Some ten-seiro restaurants serve the tempura with salt, some provide a separate tempura dipping sauce, and others have you use the soba sauce. This place uses the soba sauce. It's quite strong and threatens to overwhelm the tempura, so I'd prefer some salt if possible. The tempura itself is typical neighborhood soba shop tempura, slightly oily and brown (probably because the oil is a little old), but the portion is ample.

Ordered egg-drop soba. 700円. It came with rice and, perhaps as a limited-time offer, a raw egg to mix into it. The soba broth is cloudy; perhaps buckwheat flour dissolves out of the noodles. It's not my favorite type, but it tastes good. Perhaps for that reason, the noodles are soft, with a fair amount of buckwheat character. The noodle portion did feel small, though. With plenty of set meals and free large portions, they seem very generous with their service.

This was my second visit. Despite being in a building directly connected to Nagatacho Station, it's reasonably priced and very satisfying. Be aware that the cold soba isn't zaru soba, but the noodles have a firm bite and don't go soggy as you eat. As for how busy it gets, it's something of a hidden gem, so even at lunchtime you can get in relatively quickly. (That may be because of the coronavirus pandemic.) The lunch menu may change from time to time. Not accepting cashless payments is a personal downside, but even taking that into account, it's very satisfying.
