Had chahan and handmade gyoza (5 pieces)【650円&450円】(2026年4月) The chahan uses small rice grains, well stir-fried, dry in style with separate yet chewy grains. You can't pick it up with chopsticks, so it's not the type to eat together with side dishes. The ingredients are finely chopped, and there's little egg, so it barely makes its presence felt. The soup is shoyu-based. The gyoza are high quality, with an incredible amount of meat juice you rarely find. The chewy wrappers are good too. The gyoza were good but the chahan was ordinary, so I'd like to have hopes for the other dishes.
View on GoogleA gyoza restaurant dearly loved by Kakuei Tanaka. Even now, it remains a gathering place for the older crowd. I visited because I couldn't get into the restaurant I'd intended to go to, and this place had an extraordinary presence. The madam takes orders in a rush, but the food comes out fast too! And every dish is delicious!! As I was marveling at the gyoza, I learned these were the gyoza Kakuei Tanaka loved… There's also a photo inside of the owner standing beside Kakuei, which made me straighten up a little. A restaurant with a long history, with older customers coming in nonstop. But it was a lovely, reasonably priced place for relaxed drinks~
View on GoogleI had lunch here. A reasonably priced neighborhood Chinese restaurant. The exterior looks mainland Chinese, but the food is Japanese neighborhood Chinese cuisine. The seasoning felt balanced, without sharp edges, and hard to get tired of. I had the sweet-and-sour pork and enjoyed it. I think it supports the lunches of office workers employed nearby. Shared tables are the norm here, so go in expecting that.
View on GoogleFor lunch I had the hot-and-sour noodle & half chahan set. The portion size seems good. If you want to fill up, a set is probably a good choice. The hot-and-sour noodle soup… didn't suit me. The balance of sourness and heat wasn't great… At other places the beaten egg is suspended in a thickened soup, but here it was practically an omelet… A little disappointing. The noodles were ordinary, I suppose. They came out freshly made and piping hot, so I couldn't make much progress eating them… The most disappointing thing was the half chahan. Since it was lunchtime, I suppose making it ahead couldn't be helped… but it was a little too cold… Thank you for the meal.
View on GoogleI find myself craving this place's slightly sweet stir-fried meat and vegetables 1 or 2 times a year, but I've never found the other dishes delicious. Partly that's because I don't order anything else anymore for fear of being disappointed. The chahan in the daily set feels like fried rice with clumps here and there. The noodles can be slimy too. The building is crooked, and the stairs to the 2nd floor are quite amusing. Maybe it's wooden; it smells like a very old house. But it gets pretty busy, so I suppose those who like it like it.
