May 2026 Visited for lunch. It's a very long-established restaurant and a member of 木鉢会, an association of Tokyo's long-established soba restaurants. The words “Founded in Meiji 5” on the large entrance sign carry weight. Inside, there's a counter for about 6 on the front left, tables along the right, and more tables behind and to the right of the kitchen at the far end. Despite its history, it feels like an ordinary neighborhood soba shop and is easy to enter. A brisk older waitress runs things. There are many menu items, including rice bowls and sets. I ordered the good-value lunch-only キス天丼 with soba for 1250円. The 3 kisu tempura pieces and 1 shishito tempura were soaked in a dark, sweet-salty sauce that made the rice go down well. The cold soba came in a small bowl with dipping sauce at the bottom. This soba wasn't very good—rough and lacking aroma. Should I have ordered a standalone soba dish such as seiro?

I wanted a soba shop's katsudon for lunch, and the soba in the set was so delicious I ordered extra, ending up full and completely satisfied. I knew a long-established shop's soba would be good, but perhaps the surprise came from eating it without thinking because I'd wanted katsudon. I also remember the katsudon being so ideal that it overshadowed even that surprise. I want katsudon again. Next time with warm soba.

My first visit to 「浅野屋本店」, which I'd been curious about because it's beside my favorite tofu shop. さくらそば, かいわれそば, あさりそば... A little daunting for a first-timer, so I chose the safe option, もりそば for 800円→delicious! Seasonal rice 130円 ※Rice cooked with asari and shrimp.... sooo good! Above all, the soba cooking water was amazing!!! ■ さくらそば→soba topped with lots of sakura shrimp tempura ■あさりそば→warm soba with asari ■ かいわれそば→unexplored... stay tuned Thank you for the meal.

A long-established soba restaurant founded in Meiji 5 and belonging to 木鉢会. The soba is Edo-style nihachi soba. Apparently the cold soba broth uses bonito flakes, while the warm soba broth uses bonito and mackerel flakes. It was apparently originally located in 神田猿楽町. Since it was cold, I chose the good-value lunch set (きす天丼 and soba), opting for kake soba. The interior combines an established feel with the atmosphere of a Tokyo neighborhood soba shop—good👍 Soba is ordinary people's food, so I question making it too luxurious. That's why I love neighborhood soba shops. A pitch-black tendon—this is a soba shop's tendon!! The kisu is fluffy, and you get 3 fish. The soba broth has pronounced bonito, mackerel flakes, and soy-sauce kaeshi. Slurp up the thin soba. The prices are reasonable too, and you feel the spirit of soba as everyday food loved by Edo locals. They also have a full selection of traditional soba-shop sobamae!
