I visited to try the famous "lion's head" broth loved by Zhou Enlai, the first primier of China. It took about 20 minutes to get the dish, and I waited in a calm and relaxed atmosphere. The price was a little bit expensive for the quality (and they don't accept credit cards) but I still think the dish is worth trying.

清燉獅子頭 チンドゥンシーズートウ The 獅子頭 I had in Taiwan before was delicious, so I visited after being recommended this place Savoring the soup. Savoring the meat’s umami with its star anise aroma. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Lunch. I visited again after a long time, slightly worried that the flavors might have been adapted to Japanese tastes. Spices such as star anise were prominent, so instead I worried that some Japanese people might not like them. A restaurant for adults. Their specialty is 獅子頭, which 周恩来 enjoyed while studying in Japan. This restaurant also appears in 周恩来’s diary.

About a 5-minute walk from entrance/exit A5 of 神保町駅 on the 都営三田線, I went to 『漢陽楼(OPEN Monday~Friday 11:30~15:00&17:00~21:30, closed Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays)』…It is a Chinese restaurant. I ordered their specialty 【清燉獅子頭(a large meatball steamed in clear soup)(2,200円)】(it takes 20 minutes to prepare…the staff told me.), and ate it. Appearance-wise, there is soup in an earthenware pot, with bok choy as a pillow for a huge meatball at least the size of a fist…Huge… The taste is super yummy! Maybe it is the seasonings in the meatball, and the coarse grind, but it is really delicious! The meatball alone makes the rice go down a treat! The soup also contains small shrimp and scallop adductor muscles, with a flavorful stock, and it is super yummy! The meatball fills you up, and since you also drink the soup, even the dish on its own leaves you full, but adding rice might be fine too?
