Old traditional restaurant, beautiful interiors. Such an attentive service - they noticed I was looking for my painkiller pills and promptly brought me a cup of water without me even asking it. Japanese service - omotenashi is beautiful. Had the large eel in the traditional lacquerware box, it came with unagi liver soup, orange slices, kabayaki sauce on the side, pickles, about 7200 yen. It was flavourful, albeit a slightly stronger smelling unagi with a less earthly taste than I had before. Still quite nice and interesting to try a different unagi style. Thanks!
View on GoogleWe were actually supposed to go the restaurant next door but accidentally went to this one because I didn’t pay close attention to Google Maps. Anyway I’m so happy I found this place. We walked in alittle after opening on Tuesday and a lady asked if we had reservations. I said no but they seated us. I’m not sure if it’s reservation only but I’m grateful they didn’t turn us away. I asked the waitress if they had a bento box with tempera (which was for the menu next door) but she looked a bit confused and was apologetic saying they have a limited menu and specialize in grilled eel with other small side dishes. She spoke limited English pretty well. Eel was something on our list to try in Japan anyway so my husband and I each ordered a small size eel meal. I have to say this is the best grilled eel we’ve ever had. It was moist and succulent grilled to perfection. It flavorful but not too sweet or overwhelming. The portions for small size were way more than expected and filled up my husband no problem. Good thing we didn’t get the large because it may have been too big and we don’t want to waste food. The soup and lychee sides were great too. We gobbled everything up. It was delicious and for the portion size, I think it’s well worth it. The waitress was also very attentive and kind. Later I did some research and found out this restaurant may have been featured on news or influencer video. Not that it really matters but it’s nice to know we dined at one of the best little restaurants for eel. This wasn’t the intended restaurant but I have no regrets. It was a “Happy little accident
View on GoogleBest eel I have ever eaten, well worth the expense. This establishment has limited menu but that is because they specialize only in eel. I highly recommend The eel was delicate and flavorful, and the hostess was very friendly. Every dish had a very good flavor. The fried eel bones were very good snacks and worth ordering.
View on GoogleWe had a late lunch to try their unagi (eel) and we weren’t disappointed. The portions are hearty and accompanied by complementary tea, lychees and a beef broth. Really recommend it if you are after unagi in Tokyo. The only thing it’d be great if they had a veggie version of the broth, even if it’s just a miso soup.
View on GoogleThis is a traditional Edo-style eel restaurant with a long-established history in Kanda. The eel, first steamed and then caramelized in a delectable sauce over Bincho charcoal, is well worth a visit.
