Starchy sauce was lumpy and the dish was bland
View on GoogleTheir fried rice is prepared with proper skill and the most decent in this area.
View on GoogleA neighborhood Chinese restaurant run by an elderly couple. None of the cluttered interior or ingrained greasy atmosphere you sometimes find at neighborhood Chinese restaurants. The interior is neat and clean. Then there's the husband, the owner, who is quiet but very courteous, and his lovely wife with her somewhat friendly service. These 2 things earned an extra 1 star from me. The チャーシューメン has nothing particularly outstanding, and the soup feels slightly on the cooler side, but 900円 for チャーシューメン is surprisingly affordable. The 餃子 are the old-fashioned kind that's getting rarer these days, with a definite garlic presence and a substantial ground-meat filling. 5 regular-sized 餃子 cost 500円. I thought the food alone would be about 3 stars (not in a bad sense, just genuinely unassertive cooking), but added 1 for the 2 points mentioned earlier. The counter chairs are high. Be careful about that. If you drop something, you have to get up from your chair just to retrieve it.
View on Googleらーめん600円 and 半やきぶたチャーハン500円 at the Chinese restaurant 『十八番』 in Kanda. A true neighborhood Chinese restaurant run by an elderly couple. The らーめん is a clean-tasting soy-sauce ramen with noticeable aromatic oil. Toppings are チャーシュー, メンマ, and wakame. The チャーシュー is slightly thick and tasty. The noodles are thin and straight. The 半やきぶたチャーハン was so generously portioned that it hardly seemed like a half serving. Not greasy, with quite a lot of omelet and chopped チャーシュー, and delicious. The omelet pieces are fairly large for fried rice, so the omelet flavor comes through most prominently. I'm full. #Ramen #Ramen #KandaLunch #KandaFood #NeighborhoodChineseRestaurant #FriedRice #WantToConnectWithRamenLovers #WantToConnectWithNeighborhoodChineseRestaurantLovers 3.6
View on GoogleIt faces Shusse Fudo-dori in Uchikanda. There are many Chinese restaurants nearby, but this is what you'd call a neighborhood Chinese restaurant. It's run by two people who appear to be an elderly married couple. A small place with a high counter and tables seating about 15 in total. The menu offers only neighborhood Chinese staples such as ラーメン, タンメン, チャーハン, and ニラレバ. The menu lists dishes from cheapest upward rather than putting recommendations at the top or left, so I struggled to choose, but ordered チャーシューメン900円. I thought it probably wouldn't be enough, but there doesn't seem to be a large-serving option. The owner cooking in the kitchen is extremely efficient. He handles orders from customers arriving one after another at lunchtime. How does he remember the orders, and how does he manage noodles, fried rice, and stir-fries simultaneously by himself? Watching him was like witnessing a master craftsman. The ramen is very simple, chicken-bone soy-sauce broth with thin, straight noodles of medium hydration. The toppings are メンマ, scallions, and wakame, with 5 slices of チャーシュー that seem to be slowly simmered loin. Both the soup and チャーシュー tasted a little salty to me. Simple and delicious, but a little insufficient for a stomach accustomed to ramen with half a serving of fried rice. On the other hand, ramen plus half fried rice would come to 1100円, which feels tough on the budget. The fried rice looked hearty and generously portioned. Next time, perhaps rice rather than noodles. There are no order slips; the staff remember what you ordered. Both husband and wife have amazing memories. Cash payment only.
