Delicious! We had the cheesy gyoza, beef stir fry and saucy fried noodles. Everything was great. There was an English menu and Google translate helped with the drinks menu. Staff were lovely and patient with our lack of Japanese. Oishikatta des 😊.
View on GoogleWe loved this place. Unassuming from the outside it provided the Japanese bar experience we were looking for. The English menu worked for us and one of the kitchen staff spoke enough English to get us by on dealing with ordering food. The food was amazing and staff were really friendly. If we were ever back in Tokyo, we'd visit here again.
View on GoogleGood food, alcohol, and a calm atmosphere very authentic to old school japanese restaurants. Sadly, there is no english menu, but just ask for some time and flex around your google translate skills, and you should be able to eat a nice meal and have some decent whiskey.
View on GoogleGreat time at Johnny Noodle. Our favourites were the crushed cucumber and ethnic spicy fried chicken (google translate called it this, not sure if that’s a good translation). Service was very hospitable, can smoke inside, beer is cold, service is quick and brought with a smile and the prices are great.
View on GoogleThe service here is great as is with most Japanese places. They did provide a select menu in English that didn't list everything on offer, nor the specials. However, using Google translate it was obvious why - the food items not included wouldn't be well received by a typical Westerner. So, in the Japanese way of doing things, they tried to guide you to what would make you the most happy. Additionally, when I went to pay I realized I'd left cash at my hotel. The cook was kind enough to take me outside to show me where the closest ATM was. We ordered the ramen and gyoza. The gyoza were terrific with a tender dough that had been perfectly seared on one side giving it a satisfying crunch. The ramen was fantastic as well. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the vegetable version had plenty of vegetables that were also cooked perfectly. The pork version was lovely and had a well balanced broth. To highlight the popularity of this restaurant, there were several food couriers that came in to pick up to go orders. Our only complaint isn't necessarily about the restaurant, perhaps reflects on us as foreigners. However, we were shocked to find that smoking was allowed indoors. It isn't banned in Japan, but it was the only restaurant that we visited in 2 weeks that this occurred. Image shown is of the vegetable ramen that highlight the large portion of vegetables provided.
