We went there for our usual fix of matcha. My wife has koicha (a thick, concentrated matcha) while I have the usual matcha, both with wagashi. In my opinion, the wagashi is so-so but the matcha is truly excellent. My wife’s koicha is incredibly flavourful. The shop is also elegantly designed, imho more so than its main shop in Kyoto. The small area for customers to consume their tea at the place is not as impressive as a few others, notably Higashiya Ginza. Walk a few more minutes to get to the latter if nice ambience is what you are looking for.

Went here to buy some matcha powder, but ended up buying some matcha utensils and sencha tea alongside the matcha powder! Very kind and knowledgeable staff. Recommend taking a trip here if you love Japanese tea!

Very nice tea shop with a tea room to enjoy some of their products. We drank such good teas here, prepared with perfection. If you want to treat yourself in between your shopping come here.

Matcha ummon-no-mukashi tea was really very good. The best I ever tasted It's expensive, but we knew that before entering Ippodo's shop :) What is annoying is the waiting time for the tea lounge: 1 hour.

5 course tea menu was a great way to try a wide variety of green teas and matcha, alongside sweets that compliment the tea. The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. Staff had good English.
