View on GoogleHoneyHoney is a small place on the second floor of a building in the Akihabara area of Tokyo in Japan. It's a cosplay, or maid café. And if you glance at the website you would expect that when you showed up the staff will be dressed in maid costumes, but I guess they change what they wear depending on, well who knows what, as we showed up they were all dressed in kimonos. That was cool – it was still a fun experience. We had a little bit of difficulty finding the place as Google maps took us into a small alley off a larger street, and it was actually located off the larger street. At least the entrance to the building was. So if you find yourself in an alley looking for the place head out to the nearby larger street and you should see a HoneyHoney logo on one of the buildings. They serve coffee drinks, dessert, omelettes and salads. My wife had an omelette with rice in it. She wanted something vegetarian, and it took us a while to explain this to them with our limited Japanese, even with our translating devices, but eventually they got it and we were brought the omelette. The cool thing about this, or at least one of the cool things, is that our server decorated the plate and omelette, when she brought it to the table using a ketchup bottle, so it was a little bit of a fun experience watching her do that. She drew a panda on the omelette which my wife loved. The tomato flavor was not bad and the salad that it came with had a lovely savory dressing. I wasn't that hungry so I got a drink, a caramel iced latte, with a kitten drawn in honey on top. It was pretty good! We were there in the middle of a festival, and they had a tree with messages hanging on it, and they offered us papers to write our own messages / prayers, which they then immediately hung on the tree. They were very excited when we actually wrote messages and made us feel good about being there. Overall this was a cute experience. I don't know that the food was necessarily over the top amazing. But it was the only maid café that we went to while in Japan. It was a fairly small place and subdued experience, so I might check out another maid cafés before heading back to this one. But overall the experience here was good.
View on GoogleIt was the first time in a Maid Caffe for me and my wife. They were very attentive and kind. Even trying their best to communicate with us (due our lack of Japanese); some of them speak good English. Arigato Gozaimasu!
