the launch set was delicious
View on GoogleCame for lunch. I had the obanzai set, which comes with small portions of various obanzai. It also came with fried white fish and a mini-mini menchi katsu?, so it was very satisfying. The rice was the day's takikomi gohan: corn rice. The gentle seasoning really let me appreciate how delicious Japanese food is. There are also fish-main and meat-main options, and all lunches are 1300 yen.
View on GoogleWent in, drawn by the word "obanzai." I ordered the "Niku Gozen (chilled pork shabu)." The rice option was, believe it or not, "chestnut rice." Since it's a taste of autumn, I decided instantly without hesitation. The dishes were lightly seasoned, which felt very Kyoto, and tasty. (゚д゚)ウマー And the chestnut rice, which I hadn't had in years, was so delicious…. The natural sweetness of the soft, fluffy chestnuts filled my whole mouth. All this for 950 yen is a great deal. It's officially in my lunch rotation.
View on GoogleThe daily obanzai set for 1,300 yen has lots of different side dishes, and you can also choose takikomi rice.
View on GoogleVisited around 12:40 on a weekday. I was shown to a counter seat. The menu options are obanzai, meat, or fish. I ordered the hire katsu with grated daikon and ponzu. For rice, you choose between white rice and brown rice. I ordered brown rice. The food was served in about 5 minutes. The brown rice was chewy and delicious. They said refills were available, so I went ahead and got one. The hire katsu had a refined flavor. It came with two small side dishes: one was atsuage and fuki simmered in curry, and the other was something like chicken karaage tossed in mayonnaise. The miso soup was delicious too.
