A lovely little café run by an elderly gentleman who is absolutely adorable. Simple and effective menu, everything was very good. The place is perfect for a calm and relaxing break during the day. A nice bonus, the owner also speaks English.
View on GoogleA stylish café in an old traditional house, 11 minutes on foot from お茶の水 subway station, on the left after descending the 男坂 steps at 神田明神. It is also a 7-minute walk from 末広町 Station. The Japanese-style entrance resembles a ryotei, with a step at the doorway, but you can keep your shoes on. There are 3 counter seats and tables for 2 and 4. The coffee was delicious, and I could relax peacefully. It reminded me of training on 男坂 during university. I'd definitely like to visit again.
View on Google2023/5 雷おこし and フロランタン (handmade by an acquaintance and delicious♪) added! Lunch consists of the 2 options pictured. Both the flavors and the shop have character. Shoes can stay on. Go down 男坂 at 神田明神 and turn left; it's right there. A lovely setting that feels like stepping back in time into a good old traditional house. Closed Sundays and Mondays, with additional irregular closures. Private evening bookings are available for 3 or more people, according to your budget. Both the owner and the shop are unpretentious: a lovely café and dinner spot with carefully selected drinks combining Japanese and Western styles. Get off at "Otokozaka" of Kanda Myojin and turn left, next to the hourly parking lot. He is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
View on GoogleI had some time after visiting the national museum, so I stopped by for the first time. The simple hot sandwich and fried egg were delicious! The hot sandwich probably had mustard in it, which added a nice accent. For my drink, I chose a hot café au lait. I usually don't like or drink coffee, but suddenly felt like trying it and ordered one. I did add sugar, of course, but I really enjoyed it! My café au lait debut (haha). There is a black rotary phone in the kitchen that is still in use. You can see it from the seats, so if you're curious, asking about it could be interesting. The owner has apparently visited my hometown too, which made me feel a connection. Somehow that made me happy. I'll be back!
View on GoogleThis Hamacafe is below 神田明神 in Tokyo, immediately after you descend 男坂 and turn left. At the foot of this slope, known as 「明神下」, there was a geisha district called 講武所 (こうぶしょ) from the Meiji era until the middle of the Showa era. This HamaCafe apparently used to be a ryotei where geisha gathered too. The interior retains a retro Showa atmosphere, and the friendly owner welcomes you. The キーマカレー topped with a fried egg is delicious.
