Nice to have this gluten free and celiac safe option in Tokyo. I went several times during my stay without a reservation and it was never too crowded. The staff also spoke English and they sold some of their items like Ramen noodles at the counter. I purchased some to take home. It's a pretty relaxed space and also good for solo travellers or smaller groups.
View on GoogleThis place is a real gem for celiac people (gluten free allergy), however will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty meal. The pork buns were sensational. To our taste, the gyoza dough was great but the filling could improve significantly. The ginger ramen was fine, nothing crazy on its own but if you add the house hot sauce the flavour gets a super nice bump (would have liked if they add more fried chicken to it as it only has 4 units, 8 would be better). The fried chicken was the star of the menu for us, would come back without a doubt only to have that. Definitely order the plain fried chicken so you can experience the real texture and flavour, and just ask the server for the sauces that you would like on the side, they were very accommodating to us. Atmosphere was nice and quiet, place is not too big so wait time could be something at peak times. The staff speaks English so that’s helpful in general. Water is also complimentary and they don’t force you to get any drinks, that’s a great win as well. I think price is relatively fair, if they increase the protein amount would be 10/10.
View on GoogleWe were dreading coming here after a horrible dinner experience at the Roppongi location the night before (awful, bland food, poor hygiene). Again, we made these reservation months in advance, in preparation for our trip to Japan. We hesitantly came to lunch reservation today, expecting the worst, thinking we'd have to eat more bland food. To our surprise, the food at this location was much more flavourful. The staff were warmer and nicer, and the restaurant was much much cleaner. This restaurant is also more spacious (not large though in comparison to other restaurants) than the other location. The vibe of the restaurant was brighter and more welcoming. This location also offers slightly different menu items. The food came out hot and fresh, and with much more flavour. We were actually able to enjoy our meals here. We ordered the mapo tofu, Chinese style fried chicken, and pork buns. The mapo tofu was saucy, had a bit of spice and was garlic forward. The porn buns were soft and had a nice flavour. The chicken was crispy, spiced and vinegary. The portions were bigger and very filling. This location was actually busier than the other one when we went, yet the quality of the food was still much better. You can feel that there was more care put into these dishes. We actually really enjoyed our experience here and glad we came. We would visit this location again. This restaurant is safe for people who are gluten intolerant and celiac, and actually serves flavourful food. The manager was also kind enough to have a chat with us about our experiences at both locations and was so receptive of our feedback, which was greatly appreciated.
View on GoogleI’m an American who visited Japan this past May, and I wanted to share my own experience at Gluten Free T’s Ueno Hirokoji and how much it meant to me. That day, I had been walking around the city with my dad for hours. We were exhausted, and we both felt like we were coming down with a cold. We are also vegetarians who cannot eat onion or garlic, so finding something we could safely eat was not easy. One of the coworkers was incredibly kind, warm, and funny. Her name was Chan. She took the time to help my dad & me and served us a delicious creamy ginger ramen that fit our dietary restrictions perfectly. It was exactly what we needed. The warm soup soothed my throat and nose, and I genuinely felt better physically after eating it. The restaurant itself was also wonderful. The atmosphere was peaceful, relaxing, and welcoming, making it the perfect place to rest after a long day of exploring Tokyo. I really appreciated being served water and tea, which made the experience feel even more comforting and hospitable. Every detail helped me slow down, relax, and enjoy the moment. Another reason this restaurant became so special to me was its location. It was right next to the hotel where I was staying, making it incredibly convenient to visit. After spending all day walking around the city, it felt like a little sanctuary where I could enjoy a nourishing meal and recharge. What stayed with me even more than the delicious food was how I was treated. After such a long and tiring day, the coworker Chan made me & my dad smile and even laugh a little. Her kindness, warmth, and sense of humor turned what could have been a difficult day into one of our favorite memories from Japan. People often remember the food they eat while traveling, but I believe they remember the people and the feeling a place gives them even more. Between the exceptional hospitality, the peaceful atmosphere, the comforting meal, and the coworker Chan’s genuine kindness, my visit became one of the highlights of my trip. I’m very grateful for the care I received, and I wanted to let other people know that this place & the staff made a lasting impression on me. Thank you for creating such a welcoming place, and please extend my heartfelt thanks to the coworker who helped me that day. She made both my meal and my day truly unforgettable. Also, I heavily recommend the Creamy Ginger Ramen and tea at Gluten Free T’s Kitchen Ueno-Hirokoji, absolutely delicious & tastes heavenly! 😁
View on GoogleI think the best place for celiacs in Tokyo. Best prices and size of the dish. Compared to others. Great service, really fast.
